Well hello there.
I tell you what, it's been a while since I committed pen to paper about an FM save.
This is going to be utterly selfish as well, I can tell you - probably more a place for me to keep my FM26 notes than anything else.
So let's rattle a few things off.
The why.
Why Carl Zeiss Jena? I've always had a soft spot for the old East German sides, mainly because as a child of the 80s they were often referenced in the more recent football history I would read up on. Case in point, they were the 1980-81 European Cup Winners' Cup runners-up to Dynamo Tblisi.
Other important history that helped me choose them ahead of Dynamo Berliner, for example;
DDR-Oberliga (East German Championship)
Winners: 1963, 1968, 1970
Runner-up: 1958, 1965, 1966, 1969, 1971, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1981
Third placed: 1977, 1979, 1980, 1983, 1986
Dynamo won more, but they were basically the team of the Secret Police. Jena, they were a factory team.
Wiki: The club was founded in May 1903 by workers at the Carl Zeiss AG optics factory as the company-sponsored Fussball-Club der Firma Carl Zeiss
The how.
So my vision for this save is to meander my way through various tactics I've had fun with in previous FMs and see how easily they can be brought to life once again with the new IP/OOP gumph that has been thrust upon us and this new ME.
Ones that I aim to tick off along the way...
I'll be starting with the Argentine Strikerless and, spoiler alert, it ain't going too bad to date.
Other things I want to see...
I've had some weird FM theories over the years.
For example, not saying anything to the team before kick off (other than occasionally demanding a much better performance) and only ever bollocking them at half time regardless of the score works.
I am going to try only focusing on the players I have initially, not bringing anyone in - including staff. Can I get a feel good around the place before implementing any other changes?
Depending on how the finances part of FM26 works, I would love to work on my "real wage budget" theory from years ago - can I build a club financially soundly and not rely on FM to incorrectly tell me how much I have to spend.
Basically rubbish like that.
Where are we at so far?

11 games in, we top our 4th tier group which is pleasing me.
How we play looks like this.

No transfers made yet, other than some loans out.
Getting my head around training, about to dive more into the financials of the club as my feet are under the table.
Will update this semi-regular or forget about it completely - we shall see!

Ones that I aim to tick off along the way...
- My Argentine Strikerless from about FM15 - so much fun with Boca.
- A 4-5-1-0 strikerless concoction that I had with FK Oblik (I think) in Serbia.
- An original Guido strikerless 4-3-3-0 that was my first real foray back into FM with Clapton and then FC Torrevieja.
- A 3-3-1-3 thing that used to work amazingly well on Champ Man in about 99/00 and then I recreated somehow for a great Guildford City save and then also with Haarlem in the Netherlands.
I'll be starting with the Argentine Strikerless and, spoiler alert, it ain't going too bad to date.
