As the title and description suggest, I'm very green in this game/sport, I have no real-life experience, I don't know any of the players really and I'm just here to enjoy the ups and downs of the adrenaline rushed game that is football.
Over this week I started a new online game with one of my mates and he's a really good FM player who's been playing for over a decade and I just started. To make my life a lot easier I started with Man City, and he gave me a near infinite budget so that I can buy/use any player I want, YES! I threw €250M at Virgil Van Dijk and still got rejected but that was worth the laugh I got from my mate.
So here I am, playing as Man City and yes, I wanna win the Premier League (Or at least come 2nd, I would love to see my mate win too) but I want to do it with as much chaos along the way as I can get into. I love the chaos, so following the 2026 world cup so far, I've bought up some of the players that I really like, now I know not all of them are worthy of playing in Man City but I LIKE THEM and we'll make them good.

Marc Cucurella - Possibly my favorite footballer, me, being someone new to the sport I just like him.
Virgil Van Dijk - Declined - I WON'T STOP TRYING!! He will play for Man City!
Keito Nakamura - No where near the skill of the rest of Man City but got a goal and 2 assists in his debut.
Takefusa Kubo - Just joined, still to make debut.
Hwang Hee-Chan - Scored 2 goals in his debut.
Dan Burn - Big boy dan, I want to try and make him my "core" defender.
Mike Maignan - I thought he was good, I took him off the field after conceding 2 goals against Plymouth in his debut within the first 10 minutes, I do want him to get better and be my starter goalie though.
Now I know these are not REALLY the big names on everyone's lips, but they are players I like for various reasons.
My next chaos move is to change the formation into something I have not seen a lot, which is a 4-1-4-1 formation with Haaland as my forward.
I guess after sharing that story with you all, I'm here for advice on how to make this work with the players I've already signed and existing Man City players, Doku is still an important fixture in my team but I know my mate wants to buy him off me and I will let him do that. I'm not here to min-max the fun out of the game, I just want to have some fun with my mate and play a chaotic game, my mate at one point asked me "are you trying to speed run getting fired?" and honestly I just see that as part of the roller-coaster ride.
Any tips for making this 4-1-4-1 formation work? And what kind of tactics I need to set up?
I guess what I want is a brick wall tall boy defense (emphasis on tall boy!!) and a good attacking midfield to apply pressure on the opponent who will feed the ball to Haaland to score.
