hi was wandering if any one could get the mini scout to work in Vista?
if so how did you do it?
thanks
I'm not entirely sure this'll work, it's a long shot but I think it might do the trick...

1. Right click the game executable and goto properties.
2. Select 'Run in XP Compatability mode' and 'Run in Admin mode'

Sorry I cant be sure that this'll work and the way I described how to change to XP mode may be slightly wrong as I only really know my way around XP.

Is this any help? and if it does work and my instructions are wrong could you please post how you went about changing to XP mode.

thats the instructions that it gave on the website, i tried but couldn't get it to work.
it says that the load is ok but no data appears when i look at a player.
thanks anyway
Try launching as you usualy do, then in each field hit enter.

That's the only suggestion i've seen concerning this issue.

I was intrigued with this tool since i lost my hope to download genie this week. tried the latest one for 8.0.1 and it happened to take ridiculously lots of time to finish the search. I narrowed the string but still the search took ages to complete. Was it just me or did anyone else experience the same problem with this tool? How can you make it work faster with the search result? damn! can't wait for genie to get released.. =( any tips or trick with this tool anyone?

Hey playingdrama - How good is your computer, cause im sitting on a laptop, 2.0 Dual core, and 2 GB RAM, I would not say that its it slow, but it takes sometime to find over 90.000 players, Ill make a count... with a search without any filter, it took about 10 secs to load 93433 players.
okay, thanks andfer. good point you mentioned there. my machine has only got amd sempron 3200 with 1gb ram and i know it is not as good as yours, but i supposed it is more than enough to get the result in a less than one minute, don't you think? unfortunately that was not my case because it took me more than 5 minutes to get it finished with the searching bit (and it never really finished searching to the end because i got fed up waiting!). so, just wondering where it went wrong...

i mean, we all know how the genie scout works and if you try to compare it with the minise, makes you even more anxious to know when the genie scout will be released.. :wink

Hehe yes true, I admit that Im waiting hardly for Genie too, but MiniScout is a very nice alternate for Genie. It seems that there is something wrong if it takes more than 1 minute, or in your case 5.

Have you updated to the newest version? It was updated the 25/11, maybe it will help. If not, then there is probably nothing else to do than wait for Genie to finish his work for Genie Scout 2008 :D
yeah, I have just recently updated my database to 8.0.1 and got the miniSE for the patch 8.0.1 as well. But, like i said, maybe i (or we all!) just have to show a little bit patience until genie is released.. :) thanks anyway matey.. playing the game without additional tools is perhaps what is best to do for the time being.. :wink

Do you have a pirated copy of FM2008 or is it a Purchased copy?
Download the latest .net framework here.

If you can post the error or show us the dump it would be handy? :)
does the database used in the save game actually influence how fast it can finish the result? I am using medium database with 5 leagues from 5 different countries and it says at the very beginning when i loaded the minise, 23 something million players in database! is that supposed to be the right amount??? kinda weird this tool, and i can't help being really curious until i got it right.. =( darn!!

IF i understand what i think your saying :dontgetit

The bigger the database the more data it has to process so yes it would be slower!

i cannot see how 23 million players can be right though, more like 40,000 max :no

Anyway if u want a HUGE database download the panel from here: http://files.filefront.com/panelsfmfrar/;8835711;/fileinfo.html

Extract to C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2008\data

Please backup your original one first though.
that's it! 40K players is supposedly the right amount! that's what i was thinking.

But, i swear to god i saw the searching panel says 23 xxx xxx something which means 23 millions player in database or so. I don't know where it went wrong because i downloaded the latest scout from mxamster's website and my database is the current one (8.0.1). My .net framework is 3.0 and I bought the cd in amazon.. :D well?
this tool is rubbish! (no offense!) and i don't know why i am so persistent and keep trying to use it.. =(
