lazy scouts

i have been sending my scouts (im playing with man utd so all of the scouts ar 15+ in judging player potential and ability)) to major nations to scout for players from the age range of 16-22 and they return with only 4 players
now im damn sure there would be more than 4 good players in nations like germany, brazil, spain, etc.
any ideas why they are being so lazy?

hmm they usually just bring up the recommended ones and the players they think are good. yes there are probably more to find but a scout doesnt come up with a list of 400 players in which maybe 3 are good enough to make it into a team like united.

oh any suggestions how i can get a list of good players from one nation as of now im just restarting their assignment

Send more than one to the same country.

i have always found success with scouts sending them to continents rather than countries

I would send 2 or 3 scouts to cover central europe and i get back alot of players every month from spain, france, italy etc...

and also the same with south america as that covered brazil and argentina who has some excellent regens

In FM11 I had a lot of success sending them to individual countries, I would find wonderkid regens way before anyone else. I would assume that is still the case

well i recalled all my scouts and sent all of them to France so now they all are showing a good 2-3 months to complete the assignment.
one of the scout returned with seventeen players so finally my scouts are back on track
i guess they all wanted to go on a trip together or something

Yes I have to agree - I'm not having much luck with scouts myself - it's finding those 4.5-5* players which is really tricky.
At least you didn't buy a player on a recommendation of a scout, realise that he needed a WP - decide to send him to Belgium for 3 years, then realise that it needs to be consecutive and not accumulative days so he hasn't earned any time towards his WP.
All whilst paying him £38k a week.

PS Not been on fmscout for a long time but saw the revamp via FaceBook. Looking good
