Free transfers mid-game.

I'm now starting my 4th season with West Ham, having won the Championship and then finished 5th and 3rd in the premier league, i have also won the League Cup, Europa League x2 and the European Super cup x2. In the recent close season the contracts of a few players were up and i really wanted them! My max wage budget was 115k p/w which isn't too bad at all. The three players i wanted most were: Tevez, Ibrahimovic and Mascherano. I also wanted Adebayor who won the European Golden Boot on loan with me last season. Anyways so i try and get them and the player who wants least money is Mascherano who wants 130k and i manage to negotiate him down to 95k and get him. Next up is Tevez who i really, really want (West Ham fan) who wants 220k a week, one year contract, loyalty bonus of 9m as well as various other appearance fees etc. The lowest i can get him to accept is 180k a week, 8.5m loyalty, 1 year (which practically would double his wage) and obviously i can't offer this anyway. Ibrahimovic wants lowest 160k 1 year contract 4m loyalty bonus. Adebayor wants 110k a week which i can afford - he's just not worth it. So yeah here comes the annoyance. Tevez rejects me for months and eventually signs for Boca (who weren't rivals or anything, its not like i was bidding against them) and signs for 17k a week, 2 years, and crazy fees like 1k appearance. Ibrahimovic goes to Tottehnam (who my West Ham have a higher reputation than) for 58k a week! Adebayor still doesn't have a club. Does anyone know why this is so unrealistic in an otherwise fairly realistic game?!? It really infuriates me, i'm also pretty sure i read that players are more likely to move to favorite clubs but Tevez was never willing to move to me when he was at Man City (despite three full seasons of 0 appearances for them) and then wanted crazy wages! Has anyone else experienced this?!
