Having read through a few stories and enjoying seeing how others went about playing the game it inspired me to be more adventurous with how I approached the game.

One challenge that caught my eye was to start the game with sunday league experience and no job with the ultimate aim of winning the champs league on every continent. for this i had to use an editor pack of playable leagues for Oceania.

I've started the game with these leagues loaded: http://i1161.photobucket.com/albums/q505/garethwillis20/2012-01-20_00001.jpg

I'll post details on my first club when I get a job.

Trophies aiming for

1. European Champion League
2. Asian Champions League
3. African Champions League - Masr El Makasa 2019
4. Copa Libertadores
5. North American Champions League
6. OFC Champions League

I'll mark them off as I complete them.

I'm also adding a roll of honour below noting all the trophies I win across my (hopefully) glittering career!

2016-17 African Confederations Cup - Bussdor United (Nigeria)
2018-19 African Champions League - Masr El Makasa (Egypt)

I appear to have landed on my feet!! A great opportunity crops up only days into the game:

I've never managed in Argentina so will have to have a quick read through the league rules!!

The squad looks fairly balanced and not overly reliant on loans though my on loan keeper looks great but a bit of a loose cannon. I want to try out a 3-5-2 this save and it looks like the players i have will be suitable for this.

Will update once the pre season is over
Frustratingly I got a crash dump before the first month finished so with no autosave I'm back to the beginning again :(

Have picked up the original post set up save and gone on holiday again so lts see where the club applicaton lottery takes me this time

After a second false start due to me going on holiday indefinitely and forgetting to click the return from holiday when offered a job button I have a club!!

This is the squad I start with

Some work to do in the market considerin the best players are 33 or over!!

I will post my next update after the preseason friendlies.
It seems this challenge isnt winning the cups its actually getting the edited leagues to work!! Went to pick up from where I left off and th save wouldnt load :(

I've reloaded it all with same leagues - if it fails again i'll cut the OFC out and use the SI provided leagues.

The club lottery left me with my worst club to date in the entire time i've played football management games!! I took up the challenge anyway so welcome to......

It was only when I compared my squad with the rest of the league I noticed a big problem. I was the only team in the lague with a squad of greys!! somehow the media seemed to think I was going to finish third. i could see my stint here being quite short.

With no funds and a wage budget of £2 I had little room to manouver. I decided to ignore the budget and secure one star player along with 9 more on the smallest possible contracts to give me something to work with. This was the star player i managed to secure.

I jumped straight into the friendlies with my newly formed squad and as expected i got murdered losing 5 out of 5

I also got knocked out of the first round of the cup on penalties after conceding a 90th minute equaliser before losing my first four three league games. i had been fiddlin around with a 4-4-2 formation until here but when one of my starters got injured I switched to a high pressure 4-5-1 with a DM, 2 CMS, AML and AMR. This produced my best performance of the season only losing to a late winner. I decided to stick with this and see how it got on and next gam this happened....

MY FIRST WIN!! Not only a win but a dominant win. Most the damage was done by my star player Kante. I'm going to stick with this formation for now an see how i get on. Watch this space!!

It looks like that fixture was a one off. Things are already looking grim and the media think i'm soon for the chop.

Cant say i'll be too sad about it - this has been a frustrating experience. This is the reason for the vultures circling

My problem is shipping goals - the keeper cant keep hold of anything and the defence have never heard of a tackle!! With the exception of games againt the top two who are miles better han anyone else we've been right in every game in terms of possession and shots but ultimately we concede on about 50% of opposition attacks.
Well the inevitable happened

Not the best start to the challenge but I had a bit of an uphill task starting from so ar behind the rest of the pack with such unrealistic targets set by the club. Oh well!!

Back on holiday and the first opportunity to come up was in the Egyptian second division. However the set up and expectations looked very similar to what i left behind in the Ivory Coast. So back to my holida until this cropped up....

Warriors are an amateur club in the Solomon islands and having never managed an amateur club before I thought I'd give it a go. So after taking some advice from some FM Scouters about amateur clubs I jumped straight in the deep end.

This is the squad I started with

My aim was just to sign pretty much anyone that looked fairly decent and through trial and error develop a regular team. Because of the high amount of transfers with amateurs i wont bother posting transfer details initially. I'll update next at the halfway stage in the league
Half way through first season and I feel I have improved the team from previous season when they finished bottom. I'm about on target for the media prediction but I want to finish top half. I dont think thats out of reach yet. This is how the league stands so far:

We're not being beaten out of sight by the better teams and I think some better fullbacks could make all the difference.

These are the match results at the halfway point:

I have two key players - top scorer Aaron Ibe and this player I signed who is my playmaker and player of the season so far

My next report will be at the end of the season where I'll make a decision on staying or trying to find a bigger club.
Well i just missed out on my target finishing 5th overall despite a solid run just after the halfway stage of 7 games unbeaten. This was the final table..

i had my two best strikers poached in the last round of games so after careful consideration I decided to hand in my resignation and attempt to use my improved reputation to land a professional club. After an offer from another amateur club I received this letter from Nigeria.

A professional club with players!! And a transfer budget!! it may be small but I have something to work with. i accepted the offer and settled down to assess what I had. I quickly discovered the squad was very small and very rubbish with no backroom staff. It looks like my off season would be busy!! My priority was an assistant which i found after some searching who quickly assessed my squad

As you can see a LOT of work to do!!

I'll report back a bit closer to the start of the season on how i've got on with improving the squad.
So a busy couple of month comes to an end bringing in an entirely new team. This is what my squad looks like now:

With a full list of transfers:

Most of the money spent was on securing some decent defenders as the free transfer defenders were rubbish. I also managed to grab a nice goalie on a free from South Africa who was also a 20 rated GK coach. He's on a high wage but i dont mind considering his dual role.

Pre season friendlies were disappointing - won the first 5-2 after coming back from 2-0 down at HT. next game I was thrashed by the champions before losing a close game to a top 6 side. I finished off pre season by losing 3-0 at home and getting my new RB sent off. Hopefully when the team begins to gel I'll see an improvement. I've got them concentrating on teamwork in match prep to help.

Looking at the league top 4 gets continental qualification and top 2 ACL qualification. For this season I think thats too ambitious so will settle for top half. My media prediction is rock bottom!!

I like the look of this club and will hopefully spend a few seasons here building up the club and see how far i get.
Two months into the season and so far so good. A great start to the season saw us with two wins and two draws before the performance of the season from Babatunde saw him score 4 goals with a match rating of 9.9 to help with a 5-2 away win against Kano. Two defeats in a row had me worried but a nice away draw leaves me on target for top half after 8 games.

So i'm now at the halfway point of the season and things are loooking great.

I've had a few blips - losing 4-0 to abuja in the cup hurt. They are deep in the relegation fight so I fielded a few reserves including the keeper and they got punished. However was very happy with the 0-0 against the reigning champions Enyimba. We were unlucky not to win with these stats:

Two stand out performers for the team so far. Firstly my top scorer Joseph Peters with 9 goals in 15 apps who I picked up on a free. He's only 21 so stil has plenty of time to develop. However my star player at the moment is my left winger

5 goals, 11 assists in 18 appearances shows how important he has become although four of his goals were scored in one game.

This leaves me in 6th at the halfway stage, 12 points off the top and 6 off the continental places

Injuries have hurt me though with my top scorer out for 2 months and my starting LB out for 5 months. I think i'd still settle for top half but a good run could see me sniffing around the continental spots.
Wow!!

I've never had a season go so horribly wrong before!! Days after the last update I lost my starting RB followed by my star player, my AML both for 2-3 months. I then lost my midfield anchor for 3 months too!! My season collapsed as the reserves just aren't up to scratch.

7 losses in the last 9 games has pretty much killed my chances of a top half finish. i expect to finish higher in the table as most my final games are against lower half teams and my first team players should be back from injury soon. Relegation doesnt appear to be an issue as i'm still 17 points clear of the drop zone.

I've got some free transfers lined up in the summer to help strengthen the reserves but i'll introduce thoe at the end of the season.
Approaching the end of the season and I get summoned to the chairmans office.........
With the club lingering just outsie the relegation places who knew what to expect.

A good boost to the confidence especially with the news that a takeover might be in the pipeline too...

A few games later the curtain comes down on my first season as Bussdor and overall i'm satisfied. I defied the media prediction of 20th and relegation though I was a good 10 points off my own pre season target.

I pulled off a very nice away win at Heartland who wereth runners up but dropped points at home in some very winnable games the strangest being a 7-3 loss to a team already relegated.

I've got a good idea where my squad needs improving. out wide and up front i'm happy that we can compete (maybe a new right winger) but it was centrally we lost a lot of battles so this i where i'll be focusing in the close season.

Player of the season: Joseph Peters 29 games 19 goals 7 assists 7.22 avg rating (ST)
Unsung hero: Akeem Latifu 28 games 1 goal 1 assist 6.90 avg rating (RB) - Latifu led the league in tackles all season, his form dropped a little bit at the end but a great effort in a sometimes leaky defence.

The takeover at the club was successful though there were some scary moments as other managers were linked with the job briefly. However the fan won the chairman over and I could continue the Bussdor project :)
However the new board tightened up my wage budget - it didnt effect me too much as I hada lot of players leaving on frees which would free up some funds.

Satisfied with my transfer work over the close season - I managed to strengthen the areas where we were a bit weak last season and my second string look a lot better

This as probably the most important of all the signings

I'm hoping he can help Haruna out in the middle of the park. I fiddled around with a 4-2-3-1 formation with two DMC's in preseason to try and help out my DC's with mixed results.

Not a great preseason but i've learnt a bit about what soe of my new players can and cant do.

My aim for this season will be top half again and i've told my board mid table finish although they offered me avoid relegation. The media prediction this season has gone from 20th to 16th :)
