Gaining nationality

I have a foreign player who is well past the number of days required to gain nationality, but the status on the player's information page says "Needs more appearances for this club".
Unlike the useful counter for the number of days, there is no such thing for the number of games played. Does anyone know what the requirement is?

Sounds like you or your player has been playing in the Serbian league. It seems no one knows the exact requirement but I would make a guess that playing 75% of Serbian league matches in 1 season will get him the nationality. Cup and European matches don't seem to count unfortunately.

Yes I am managing a Serbian club. It's weird that the rule is unique for the country.
In my previous game I took Bath City from BSB to the richest club in the world mostly relying on talented foreigners, and never had this issue.
That means that none of my foreign players will gain nationality, because I've been switching them a lot so they get playing time. They mostly play in the European matches which don't count :-(
I thought the requirement was a cumulative number of games played over the years, rather than a single season percentage.

Hey, I might be wrong and it could actually be a cumulative number of games like you said. Try getting one of these players to 70+ league appearances if you can and see if that works. Please let me know if it does.

After finding this thread after having the same problems as the legendary Partizan player Mance ( ), I decided to check out the authenticity of this "70+ games" info...Evo,I'm not sure how you came up with this exact number, but thank you.And it's (almost) completely true!I had Ivan Ivanov in Partizan changing from "needs more appearances..." to "awaiting paperwork" somewhere after 67-70 games and Yaya Sanogo(an out-of-this world goalscoring wonderkid) after 65-68..I'm not sure about the exact number,because I was on 65 appearance for Ivanov when I read Evo's post and then decided to wait out 5 more games and the status changed as mentioned.But Sanogo had 2 games less (68) and his status changed to "awaiting paperwork" too, therefore I'm not sure about the exact number. Anyway, thanks for relieving me of uncertainty and to Mance, good luck with the game!
P.S.I remember this problem occurring in some earlier FM editions,but couldn't remember the number of the games needed for the resolution.But,what I do remember is that "awaiting paperwork" lasts substantially less!I will let you know about the exact time period when it's done.

Ok,Yaya Sanogo gained citizenship after 10 days or sth like("in order to help the club with the foreign players limit policy")...but Ivanov nothing yet,AFTER SOME 4 WEEKS,still awaiting paperwork :S I'm gonna let you know when the status changes,if it changes.
