Today the fans favourite Roberto Martinez has resigned from Wigan and all of football with immediate effect due to personal reasons. Rumours swirled around the DW stadium for several hours of who the replacement would be, with the heavy favourite being the unemployed Steve Bruce for a second go at the Wigan job. After lots of discussion the board decided to go for a completely new manager to bring a fresh look at the club so they put the trust in me. Wigan have not won a trophy since 2003 back in league1, and since 2005 Wigan have been in the EPL. In recent years they have struggled to stay in the EPL.
I was happy to take on the tough job of Wigan, and decided to set my season expectation at avoid relegation and was given £5m. To keep the moral of the team high for a tough EPL season I have decided to only sell a couple of players. But I will be looking to buy some good players to help me move forward as a club.
I will be posting later today about how my pre-season was and how the transfer market was.
Feel free to comment with positive or negative comments, as this is my first story so would appreciate any help.
Good luck for the season ahead mate

Cherrs mate, I think it will be tough but I think I can survive :)
Pre-season Results:
Wigan VS Wigan Reserves 3-0
Queens Park VS Wigan 3-0
Kilmarnock VS Wigan 2-0
Wigan VS PSG 0-3
Wigan VS Boca 3-2
Wigan VS Sporting (POR) 1-0
Macclesfield VS Wigan 2-0
Southend VS Wigan 5-0
Wigan VS Sampdoria 3-0
Wigan VS Espanyol 1-1

I was really pleased with the pre-season fixtures and results as it gave my whole squad game time so I can judge who should start, who should sell and what positions to strengthen.

Today was the opening day of the EPL, with fans around the country nervous in anticipation. Today was my first ever match as a manager so I was keen to impress the fans and the board who had put faith in such a unknown manager.
But it is not going to be an easy match because our opponents will be the favourites for the EPL Manchester City, but there is a slimmer of hope because we are at home.
My starting formation: Al-Habsi, Stam, Figueroa, Caldwell, Alcaraz, McCarthy, Crusat, Diame, Rodallega, Moses and Ben Watson.

Man City 2-2
Wigan got off to a fairy tale start as they took the lead after just 2mins through Ben Watson with a 25yard screamer. Things instantly turned sour for Wigan however as Mario Balotelli sneaked up at the far post to poke the ball towards and a helpless Al-Habsi could only be awarded the own goal as he tried to prevent it going in. Things got worse for Wigan as Yaya Toure scored the second screamer of the match to best Ben Watson’s. The game looked like it was heading towards defeat, but fan favourite Victor Moses had other ideas popping up at the near post to glance in a header to send the Wigan faithfull wild.

I am very happy with this result against far superior opponents and to make it even better goalkeeper Al-Habsi got Man Of The Match.
However focus instantly turns to next match against Chelsea at The Bridge.
Wigans chances were also boosted by the signing of Victor Anichabe just a day later on a year long loan.
