Hi lads I started a new save with Bury FC

a league one club that have only been promoted so they are favourites to go straight back down to league 2. The main reason I choose to manage bury was because they have Man City as their parent club. I knew I could loan u18 players for free so set my season expectations as a top half finish.
Only was expected to get to the second round in both F.A cup and League cup and I got to the third in both so the board were happy with my performance. In the Johnstones Paint trophy I was expected to get to the 4th round and I got to the semi-final of the northern section, again a good result.

My best performance though was in the league, finishing 6th getting a playoff position just by goal difference. I beat Walsall 6-3 in aggregate in the semi-final of the playoffs, and then I arrived at Wembley with a pressure match against Tranmere. There was no need for me to be worried as I humiliated them with a 5-1 vitcory.

So bury in the championship, could it be a third promotion in 3 years??

Again I didn’t get too much of a transfer budget so I had to go bargain hunting.

Players like Bowyer and Petrucci (United flop) were great free transfers, also signing Luis Garcia ex Liverpool man was a great signing as his experience is crucial, he couldn't be registered to January though. Hilario ex Chelsea no 2 came available in January and had to be snapped up too.
Excellent signings but did Hilario get released then I take it? Players like Hilario and Garcia I would have thought they would reject Bury?

Yes Hilario had been released, even though he did play 15 games for Chelsea the previous season, and I was shocked at Luis Garcia myself until I checked his history. The class of team has been slowly decreasing and he has declared he will retire.

Again I was favourite to be relegated but my performance last season left me over confident

so I set my expectations as mid table finish. This seems to be a distant dream as I am in the regelation spots and cannot win a match to save my life. I am currently at the end of January, without a win in twelve and the team is in free fall.

If anyone would care to give me advise on staying up in the Championship I would much appreciate it.
Here's some ideas:

1) Whenever possible, even during the season, set up friendlies with much weaker teams than you which you are sure to beat to imrove morale.

2) You seem to play a 424 tactic. Maybe its too attacking? Try keeping the right cm in the position you have him in but set him as box to box (support) and pulling back the left one to sit right in front the back for and set him as anchor man.

3) Look at forthcoming matches and prioritise the winnable ones (ie the ones against teams that are around you). Keep your best players fresh for these matches.

4) Use players with pace mostly whenever you can.

5) Pray :)

Thanks for them, i have changed to a diamond formation which seems to be doing better for me.
Hope I can string a few victories together.
So I take it you're on the 2nd season with Bury then?

Yes, second season
In your first season do you know who you bought and what did you set your expectations as?

Read my first post and you will see both :)

Happy with the month, nice to get a win after so many games,

disappointed that I didn’t beat Blackpool as it was a chance to get out of the relegation area but at least I didn’t suffer a defeat.
New formation seems to be working.

Good signings there. Thomas Piermayr is in my Crewe team, though only a backup now in the EPL.
MANUMAD is right. You are too attacking, at home it can work but not away. Try playing a deep 4-2-2-2, with the midfielders as defensive midfielders or a 4-1-2-2-1. I hope your team is fluid in the formation/tactics you ask them to play!
