Just thought i'd share my success story with you lot about Croydon Athletic. I downloaded the patch to enable me to manage them uin the ryman div 1 south, since then the whole club has gone from strength to strength.
I started with an average team and got rid of a lot of dead wood, managed to get a couple of cheap steals, Garreth O' Connor ex Ireland international from Stirling Lions in Aus for £0, Also picked up two star strikers, Royce Brownlie who cost me £500 and scored 23 goals in the first season along with his partner in crime Mark Cruse (Rossendale Rovers) who cost me £45!! Danny Jackson at Centre half was a freebie and a few other players to make up the team, we ended up smashing the Ryman Division 1 season being unbeaten and won the Alan Boon cup...
Promotion to the Ryman premier saw me bring about a few changes as I knew it would be tougher, so a few other players were let go and I rought in a load more freebies, Even Manged to snare Kristian Tzimar from Stevenage as his contract was finishing so got him on a 12 month deal, which I later regret not giving him a better deal. I also bought Michael Byrne from a Thai team for £7,000 amazing statsd and has been with me ever since... We knew it would be tough but after the first few games going well and sitting pretty at the top of the league after 10 games, I delved into the market again and got Jack Lester on a loan from Chesterfield for the rest of the season, he was 37 at the time and just wanted to play football so I thought it was a deal made in heaven, he came in and did a good job for us.
I also signed a young australian kid called Aaron Day, he was 20 years old and a striker, physically was quick but lacked the finishing, he started with 3!!! He has now scored 42 goals in 40 games for me!! he asmassed 9 goals in 2 games last season and for a free transfer its amazing, his value has gone up to 120k already and Melbourne want to buy him for oner £2m... One to watch!! So with the season drawing to a close on the Ryman Premier CROYDON ATHLETIC were still top of the league and once again unbeaten... 16 points clear with 6 games left!! We ran away with the lwague once again, but lost on our final day of the season to the 2nd placed team. Put a bit of a downer on it but again one the Alan Boon cup and still finished champions!!
So for the present day we are in the BSS and top of the league 10 games played... 10 games won... Aaron Day and my super bargain freebie MARLON KING!!! Aare ripping defences apart left right and centre. I singed a Gambian Defender at the back to partner Jackson who has played onver 100 games for us, we also have Zesh Rehman at the back along with Sam Sodje.
In the midfield we have Yohan Guichard Right Mid he was a french freebie bought in the middle of last season, with Brendan O'Sullivan 19 year old Irish kid who has been virtal in the centre of the park, partners by Byrne and on the left we Dejan Dejic, another 18 year old kid who has worked wonders for us so far, and have King and Day up top... Plan is to take them to the premier league... Only a few more seasons to go!! Fingers crossed we get there... COME ON YOU RAMS!!!!
