Manchester United was formed in 1878 as Newton Heath LYR Football Club by the Carriage and Wagon department of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway (LYR) depot at Newton Heath. The team initially played games against other departments and rail companies, but on 20 November 1880, they competed in their first recorded match; wearing the colours of the railway company – green and gold – they were defeated 6–0 by Bolton Wanderers' reserve team. By 1888, the club had become a founding member of The Combination, a regional football league. Following the league's dissolution after only one season, Newton Heath joined the newly formed Football Alliance, which ran for three seasons before being merged with the Football League. This resulted in the club starting the 1892–93 season in the First Division, by which time it had become independent of the rail company and dropped the "LYR" from its name. After two seasons, the club was relegated to the Second Division. In January 1902, with debts of £2,670 – equivalent to £210,000 as of 2012 – the club was served with a winding-up order. Captain Harry Stafford found four local businessmen, including John Henry Davies (who became club president), each willing to invest £500 in return for a direct interest in running the club and who subsequently changed the name; on 24 April 1902, Manchester United was officially born

My Intro

Hi am pretty new to the football manager game but i am not new to Manchester united i have being following them for 23 years now and being to over 100 matches not bad considering i live in Ireland. Now what i don't get is how city can call them self's great let me think they cant not after buying the league now i no there is a lot of stories on here about Manchester united so i am going to do one two(Sorry).

I am going to do what Alex Ferguson Done in the 90s and that's youth players yeah i might bye one our two but they be young players over the next 3 season i am going to turn youth team into first team and hopefully win a few titles two Manchester United are still the biggest club in Manchester.
i'm interested in how the youth project will work out , who will you use on midfield this season?
i like the way you want to work. producing your own youngsters is always more rewarding than just buying them .
please dont buy the usual suspects lol ( carlos fierro , niang , papadopolous, cavani ) :D

I am going to use Tom Cleverley going give him about 20 games in the season also Paul Pogba will get a good few games also they are the two main mid players this season others will play as in Larnell Cole and other reserves.

good buy in Hamsik he is a very good player in FM12, I'm trying to buy him but no luck yet..

I'm not going to buy any players in my season going to concentrate on using my youth like Cambi,Santander etc..

Well thats what i am going to do the only reason i bought hamsik is cause united youth are short on Center Mid Players next season i wont buy anyone as my youth will should be good enough for even a bench spot
Looking forward to seeing how this story pans out mate, glad to hear your aiming to bring the youth into the first team thats what seperates United from all others! Work hard on the likes of Will Keane, Adnan Januzaj, Mats Daehi, Larnell Cole, Michael Keane & Ryan Tunnicliffe as there is potential there and you can turn them into good players over the next 2-4 years. I too brought Marek Hamsik in my first season & he was fantastic in the heart of midfield, if you got the latest update then Rafael should be injured until around Dec & Darren Fletcher becomes unavailable from Dec until the rest of the current campaign as his bowel condition affects him on FM12 also..(sorry if you already know this but just to make sure eh). Give Danny Welbeck & Tom Cleverley games as they develop very nicely (Welbeck got 24 goals in my first season & Cleverley got 7 or 8!!) Final thing, get atleast 3 formations set out to counter specific situations..defensive but counter attacking in Europe against the top clubs & maybe attack them down the flanks in the easier games.

Good luck anyway mate, i will be following your story closely to see how you get on :)
