Before we begin...

This story features the born and bred Lincolnshire coach Josh Pickard, Born to devout Boston United fans he naturally found a role within the club, as a youth coach, after a disastrous cruciate ligament injury caused him to hang up his boots as a player. This is the career of the 25 year old wannabe champion.

22nd June

Lee Canoville and Jason Lee resign as joint managers of Boston United. Canoville moves to Ireland in search of semi professional football managment, with Lee becoming manager of Ilkeston Town.

23rd June

Specualation surrounding Dave Hockday taking the Pilgrims hotseat is rife across the Blue Square Conference forums, with Solihull Moors' Michael Moore added into the rumour pool, after resigning from the position of manager two days before. I was concerned about the rumours of Hockday becoming next manager, as he would most likely bring his backroom staff with him.

Absolute silence regarding the vacant Managerial position of Boston United becomes eerie for the board and it's associates. I was approached by David Newton, the Chairman, after I finished a lengthy discussion with Paul Bastock about his Goalkeeper training at local schools. I was invited to take a seat in the Fantasy Island Stand for a chat. I was naturally surprised, Newton rarely spoke to the Backroom Staff of the club, we both took a seat and began to talk.

Newton: "As you know there has been no progress finding a new manager, discussions with the board have lead to a single candidate being picked out and I wanted to ask your opinion of him."

Pickard: "Yes sir, go ahead..."

Newton: "I haven't invited you here for nothing, I want you to take the role of Manager. I will offer you a wage of £475.00 a week and a seat in the dugout, Mr Pickard."

Pickard: "... T... Thank you, I promise I won't let you down Mr Newton."

I couldn't believe my luck! Manager of Boston United... It wasn't a dream job, there are many other gold plated Manager positions elsewhere, but it was mine. Time to stop messing around, time to start managing.
Good luck, I will be watching this with interest. Currently managing a team in the same league at the moment so it will be interesting to see your approach.

I'm welcomed to Boston United with open arms! I set out my expectations for the season, I'm obviously not expecting to win the title, although that sneaky feeling in the back of my head says otherwise. Anyway, down to business! My first move was to find an Assistant Manager. My first choice, Ken Baker, accepts my offer of a £240.00 Per Week contract, and the talks are settled in under an hour, not a bad way to start the season...

6th July

My introductory Press Conference, I'm not going to drum up a record crowd, but I was determined to make my presence known. Hopefully the first of many Press Conference I'm not biting my nails about.

Using the Conference I let the fans know that "It is unlikely I will make major changes" and that I would "Reshape the club from top to bottom." Great, first interview and I'm already making oxymorons. However I presented my hands on approach, which I hope will prove the correct decision in the future. Now everyone knew where they stood it was time to prepare for the season ahead.

John Martin - Central Midfielder (£400 per Week)
Ken Baker - Assistant Manager (£240 per Week)

No one as of yet.

Boston Utd 3 - 2 Boston Utd Reserves

Funny sort of game, we took an early 2 - 0 lead, but they clawed two back, it took a late Newsham goal to win it... it was good practice for pre season, and it gives me a good idea on who is and isn't in my first 11 in our next match.

Scorers Table

Newsham (2)
Suarez (1)

On to Pre Season!
