England appoint Debenham as manager

Unknown manager Lloyd Debenham has been unveiled as the surprise new appointment by the English Football Association.

The announcement was made in the FA headquarters this morning where Debenham's task of guiding the team successfully to the European Football Championships begins.

The appointment is said to have angered England fans and surprised the England players many of whom claim not to of heard of Debenham. However, Debenham did quote "Just because you haven't heard of me, doesn't mean I cannot bring success to my country"

The FA, Debenham and some of the backroom staff will have a meeting to discuss the ambitions for the next couple of years

Debenham's first meeting with the staff and discussion with the FA in brief

At the meeting was:
Lloyd Debenham (new manager)
Alex Horne (head of the EFA)
Steve Wigley (coach)

Horne:
First of all, welcome to both of you; now, Lloyd, this is Steve who is one of the coaches in your backroom staff, he will explain what he wants from you as a manager

Wigley:
Nice meet you!

Debenham:
And you

Wigley:
Now, as a manager or head coach, you have to select a 23 man squad for each match, to help you pick, your assistant who isn't here today will give you a recommended squad, however, you could also go and watch matches to look at players.

Debenham:
Right, yes.

Wigley:
So of course you have control on the team selection, tactics, team meetings, arranging some friendlies etc.

Debenham:
Sound ok.

Wigley:
Well, there is not much more to say!

Debenham:
Thank you!

Horne:
Now then, you have a national 'pool' where you can monitor players and see who is 'availible' for selection, which can help with finding players and you can also add your own players to the pool.

Debenham:
Sounds fine with me!

Horne:
Now, your expectations are to qualify through the European Championship group stage which we are currently in however your first fixture you will be in charge of is a friendly at Wembley against Ireland on the 10th of August. Your squad, need to be handed in by the 4th of August so we have 6 days notice, and training with your team begins at Wembley on the 8th! And we hope to see you then, thanks for your time!

Debenham:
Thank you very much!
