Football Manager Handheld 2012

I've recently bought FM2012 Handheld for the PSP and it loads up ok, but when it gets to the screen to select a new game etc, none of the buttons work.

I've run a system update on the PSP and the buttons work on all the navigation screen so can only presume its something to do with the game itself ?

Any help much appreciated !
