FM12 is the first version of this franchise that I've played, and I'm quite bummed that I didn't find this game earlier as I'm absolutely hooked.

Quick question for some of you other veterans, how have previous upgrades handled older saved games? For example, could I bring in my save from FM12 into FM13 and enjoy all the new goodies but keep the hard work I've put in?

Or a slightly different version of that question - how hard is it to modify the player databases? I'm a big Everton fan and would love to play FM13 as Everton but I've always had HUGE success with Rodwell and now he'll be a part of the City squad. Is that something that's even possible? In a similar vein, I'm not sure Felaini is rated as an attacking middie like he's excelling at this year, is that something that's "mod-able?"

Thanks for not only any responses, but also just the presence of these boards and the community!
No you can't this feauture is not supported yet and i think it will never be added to the game!
Hi docholiday and welcome to FM Scout!

1. It's not possible to continue a save game from a previous FM.

2. You can definitely modify players using the official data editor but you'd have to start a new save game to load those changes.
Otherwise, you'd have to use a third party tool (such as FMRTE) and edit stuff on the go. However, that last option is not recommended at all, because chances are it will corrupt your save game.

Yeah, it's in position strength, rated out of 20, with 20 being natural like Fellaini is at MC or DMC
Thanks for all the responses, I have a feeling from a youngster perspective I could see people trying to roll with different builds of those players and that's where I was coming from. Certainly the outlook for players in the FM13 DB will be different then the FM12 DB.

Continuing my thought process, is is possible to dump a FM2012 database into FM013? I'd really like to track the growth of potentials like Rodwell and Barkley for Everton and am assuming (I could be wrong) that the past year of "failure" will cause them serious growth issues. I guess the other option would be to dive into the editor and mod the 2013 stats to mimic where the were in 2012.

I know we can't necessarily say what will happen for 2013, but I'm assuming this question has come up for previous versions?
Go into editor and resave the original database of FM12, then it should be ok to reload it into FM13 when it comes out!

Am I correct that the editor you speak of is the seperate FMRTE, or is there something in the official FM12 game client that I'm missing?

Thanks!
Docholiday-
There's an official fm editor made by Sports Interactive which you can download in the tools section of Steam. If you don't know where that is, look up "How to download fm12 editor" or something, there's many guides on it.
With that editor you can create teams, players, leagues, delete teams/players/leagues and much more. After that, you can save the database and use it in fm.

On Steam, search football manager or just view games available and you should find the official Football Manager editor. Download this.

When downloaded, run the program. In the top left you should be able to open a database. Just load in the original FM12 database then resave it somewhere on your PC. Now when FM13 comes out you can select the file as databse to start the game with!
Thanks, found the walk-through link easily enough here on this site. Thanks for the help, didn't know there was an official one as I had only seen stuff about the FMRTE.
