im playing 4-2-3-1 with wide attacking mids what is the best team instructions to score goals but no conceed goals?
That's not an easy question.
On 4-2-3-1 formation the roles of the MC are very important, at least one of them should be a ball winner.
Having one the central defender with stopper duty will increase the pressure over the ball possession player when he enters on offensive midfield.
With players capable of execute these roles, I think your team will concede less goals.
To score more goals the player maker should be an MC and AMC should work as a 2nd striker, I think inside forward with attack duty is good role for that player. If you have strong wingers, with these set roles, there will be more players into box to take advantage of crosses.
If you want to protect a result have the both MC with ball winning roles, will increase defensive capability of your team, but the will have less player unless you use more roaming.

It's very difficult to find a tactic to score more and concede less, but that will be a perfect tactic.
You need to decide when to attack and when to defend, depending on game result.
This is 5 years FM Experience, worked well with Man Utd. Hardly fails.
