As it says leaking to many goals how to you keep tight defense im play flat back for pushed high up playing off side trap. my defence is

gibbs , kosciely , hummels , lahm
What I find helps is setting the full-backs' duties to defend. This will make your defence more organised like Newcastle's was last season.
You're probably leaking goals because you're springing an offside trap. To work an offside trap, your back four must be very use to playing with each other. If you have been using the same back four for at least a season, then try playing a little deeper or start playing more rigid.

I personally use a rigid system with a Stopper/Cover combo with my fullbacks on Support, with Man Marking on. Zonal for my CBs. This keeps things tight and I only conceded 21 goals in the league last season and my CBs are not exactly world class. (David Luiz and Shawcross).
With the style of defending you're trying you need fast centre backs. Try dropping them a bit deeper. Keep offside trap on though, I've only ever had bad experiences with playing without it (fullbacks playing people onside leaving me exposed). I think your defense is good but how is your midfield set up? Try using an anchorman. If your midfield isn't giving enough support to the defense often your centre backs will step up to pick up an attacker leaving gaps
If you are leaking goals then play with a good CDM. I also make sure I designate at least one BWM if I am playing against a strong team. He needs to have good heading/tackling to win balls. The more balls you win in the middle, the fewer runs your defense has to contend against.

As for the back four make sure that your fullbacks have adequate speed (at least 15 pace) with decent marking. Sometimes my CD will have brainfarts and let people run past them for no reason leading to easy goals. A strong keeper always helps the defense out in those rare instances.

When playing away or against strong teams, I recommend use the counter setting. And once you are in the lead in the later part of the second half switch to defensive.

I believe that set pieces are bugged because they score goals so easily. Can't be helped. I've had defensemen score like 5 goals per season just off set pieces. Djourou has done it two season in a row now and I'm only into my second season of FM, LOL.
