Sorry this is a bit late story because it took place in FM 2010 or before. It was the story when ronaldo was at Man Utd and I was managing Chelsea. After 2 years Man Utd were in dire straits and were in 18th place and players like Rooney and ronaldo were frequently informing they are unhappy. I thought of buying ronaldo and placed a starting bid of $75mn were as his value was $72mn. Obviously it was rejected. Ronaldo submitted transfer request and I made a bid of $80mn still rejected. Again I bid $87mn and went on till $175mn and still rejected . During january transfer window AC Milan brought him for $75mn. Again in next January transfer window I tried to sign Ronaldo but they did not accept. I tried bidding $125mn+ shevchenko, Ballack, Carvalho+ Shaun Wright Phillips but still could not buy him. In summer window I found that ronaldo of angry abt something and made a bid of $81mn and was immediately accepted and got my man who I had tried by bidding world record sums of $175mn and got him after 1 year for just $75mn. I have been FM from 2007 and this transfer was one which made me know that if we persuade a player he will definitely be yours thru right kind of pursuation.
