After the shock resgination of Harry Redknapp as the board stated "personal reasons", the rush was on to find a manager to form stability before top players get unsettled.

The board put out a statement informing the footballing world they were only intrested in a "young, vibrant, up and coming manager with the hope to build a project". Many people such as AVB were linked witht the job.

Several days later late into the night Tottenham announced the hiring of Sam Tyler on a two year contract worth £27,000 a week "with the choice to extend if first season satisfactory".
In my experience, with top teams, a good offence is the best defense. The best way to win points off City and United etc. is to try to score goals. I think if you spend a bit in the first season ( by using installments after your budget runs out ) and get a great team, you should be able to match them. In my Liverpool and Tottenham saves I got 25 points off of Chelsea City and United in the first season.
