Full Time : Ternana 1-4 Cremonese
Disaster for Lahart as first game in charge ends in trashing
Séamus Lahart's start to his career as Ternana did not go according to plan as his side slumped to a heavy 1-4 defeat. All was going well for Ternana at the start when new signing Spas Delev put the ball into the back of the opposition net. It was only while he was celebrating putting his side in front that he found out the goal had being wrongly disallowed, leaving Lahart lambasting the 4th official and even sending Roberto Biundo down the line to abuse the linesman.
Shortly after this, Cremonese took the lead thanks to a slick counter-attack which was cooly finished by Milan Djuric. Within 11 minutes however, the teams were back on terms as Gustavo Capellino slotted the ball into the corner of the net. As the referee blew his whistle for half-time, manager Séamus Lahart was out on the pitch giving the official his thoughts on the disallowed goal.
Things went from bad to worse only 3 minutes into the second half as Djuric again was on the score-sheet. This time a powerful header from the edge of the box. Djuric completed his hat-trick 5 minutes later. With the match already over, Cremonese finished off the rout. This time Ricardo Mussetti lobbing the goalkeeper.
It was not the fairytale start to his managerial career but things can only get better for Lahart from here.
