Genie Scout 13 - and FM13 Demo Version

I just downloaded Genie Scout 13. I am using FM13- demo version. I tried to load Genie Scout while my game was playing (as the instructions state), but Genie Scout doesn't see the game and will not load.

Is this because I am playing the demo version?

Yes, it's compatible with full version only.
