Where am I?

I woke up. I sat up straight and looked around. I felt like someone was hitting me on the head with a hammer. I was hungover. At first, I didn't know where the hell I was, but after a quick assessment, I came to the conclusion that I was in a hotel room somewhere. And judging by the fact that my clothes were still on, I hadn't hired a prostitute. Thank God. My wife woulda killed me.

I still couldn't remember what happened. I tried to recollect my memories.

I remembered G telling me that I had an interview for the Arsenal job. I remembered that I got on the flight. Then I had a lot of drinks. The next memory came to me. I went for the interview.

...Oh god. I probably blew my best shot at a high-profile managerial job and made a complete fool of myself at the same time. I heard a knock on the door, followed by the sound of it opening.

Giuseppe emerged from the other room.

"Heeeeeeeyyy Fabio! I see you're finally awake!" said G.

"Could you not talk that loud?" I said, clutching my head.

"So, do you want the news?"

"What news?" I asked. "And what the hell did I do?"

"What did you do? You aced the interview with Arsenal! You've got the job!" said Giuseppe, jumping around with joy, probably cause of his agent fee.

"Huh?"

"You blew their minds in the interview. Don't you remember?"

"Not quite. I was drunk."

"Whatever, you've got the job though. They said they were very impressed by your ideology and they were looking for someone fresh, which you are. They only gave you a one year contract though, but it pays 84,000 pounds a week."

I was speechless. "Maybe I should get drunk more often." I thought.

"They want to meet you again tomorrow to discuss budgets, targets and all that rubbish. Anyway, I'm off. I've got other clients back in Italy to take care of. Ciao, and good luck!" he said as he left in a rush.

I didn't know whether to feel happy, sad, scared or excited.

Well, at least I've got a day off.
Yay!

What to do?

I met up with the owner Stan Kroenke yesterday, and we discussed about where we should finish in the leagues and cups, and what sort of budget I'd get to buy players, and staff changes.

"30 million" he said. "For Champions League qualification. That is, fourth or higher."

I was pleasantly surprised that they gave me that large a budget, considering Arsenal's reputation as misers, but that could partially be Wenger's reluctance to spend.

He was also quite open to firing 90% of our backroom staff and allowing me to get my own team.

I've also looked at the boys in the training ground with my new assistant - 80 year old Valdir de Moraes - and decided who to dump.

Arsenal announce new manager

Arsenal have announced that the man to replace Gunners legend Arsené Wenger is former Italian international and World Cup winner Fabio Cannavaro.

It was said that they wanted to go with a new fresh face to bring change to the club, since they have not won a trophy since the Carling Cup 7 years ago. The decision comes as a shock to many fans, who expected a more experienced manager, such as Roberto Martinez, Diego Simeone or Laurent Blanc to take over. The fans' association has stated that they are fully behind Cannavaro and hope that despite his inexperience, he will be able to bring success to the club.

Journalists were allowed to give the new manager a quick Q&A session.

Reporter: Mr. Cannavaro, how does it feel to step into the shoes of Arsene Wenger, the club's best manager ever, as a rookie?

Cannavaro: Well, obviously, Arsene Wenger is a legend here, and I have the greatest respect for him. It's a bit daunting to follow him after he's been here for 16 successful years, but at the same time I wouldn't be here if I wasn't confident in my ability.

Reporter: Arsenal haven't had much luck winning trophies in recent years. Most fans think that this is a result of not keeping the club's best players. Why do you think Arsenal haven't been able to win?

Cannavaro: It could be a combination of a number of reasons, but yes, we do need to keep our best players. Even the last two years, if we hadn't sold players, we would still have players like Fabregas, Nasri, Clichy, Song and van Persie, which would make us a much stronger squad.

Reporter : What can we expect from you in the transfer market?

Cannavaro: Well, right now, my intention is to sell the players that we will not be using to free up our wage budget, and then fill up gaps in all the positions we need to.
