I have just started a career on FM13 with Arsenal, and after 3 games, I have drawn 2 (Fulham and QPR) and lost to Norwich, leaving us 16th. I have only scored 1 goal so far and am struggling to find my tactics are paying off. My current XI in a 4-2-3-1 formation is: Szczensy, Sagna, Koscienly, Vermaelen, Santos, Chamberlain (soon to be Wilshere when he returns from injury), Arteta, Podolski, Cazorla, Aubayemang (from Saint-Eteinne) and Giroud. I have signed Gary Cahill, Stefan de Vrij, Pierre Emerick Abayemang and Mark Bunn (as good back up keeper). Has anyone got a good tactic to share when playing with Arsenal?
Your numbers dont match with that formation i swear! In the first season (money wise) i went for Tim Krul (i like him, not that Szcz is bad), Pocogonli and the love of my life Jovetic+Kovacic. Sold 15mil worth of players asap for funding
i went with 4-2-3-1 (2cm's, 3 AML/AMC/AMR and 1 Striker). Direct/Pressing/Expressive with a high width and tempo :)

So it was something along the lines of: Krul, Gibbs, Mertesacker, Koscienly, Sagna
Arteta, Ramsey (when he's back, if not Cazorla)
Jovetic , Wilshere , Oxlade
Walcott as a poaching Monster

They key i found as arsenal is pace pace pace, Oxlade breaking with Walcott worked wonders for me against big teams and Minnows couldnt keep up with the way the ball was worked into the box

p.s. managed to win the prem (just!) and the league cup in the first year. Sold ALOT of players draining the wage budget (that donkey podolski and half of the reserves out on loan)
My current XI in a 4-3-2-1 formation is: Szczensy, Sagna , Koscienly, Vermaelen, (Koscielny and Vermaelen is Swap Position) Gibbs ( for lower match i play Santos ), Arteta is Anchor Man-Defence, Ramsey Midfield-Automatic, Cazorla Box-to_Box, DONT FORGET i give position in Ramsey and Cazorla is Swap Position,, Walcott in the Right with Winger-Attack , Podolski in Left with Inside Forward-Support and Lone Striker (Deep-Lying Forward-Support ) Giroud. i buy Jose Callejon for back up walcott and Loan Djamel Mesbah for backing Gibbs,, come try my formation,, u can look sexy football from my formation,,
what philosophy u play e.g balanced . att?
my philosophy is still CONTROL.. my philosophy changed to ATTACK if i lost 2 goals.. u can try my formation for 1 match, until u try it,dont forget to share with me how effective or ineffective my formation.
I would play a 4-2-3-1 - two holding midfielders and then the 3 in front, one in CAM the others outwide (Walcott//Gervinho = Pace). Attacking philosophy and play direct. Set your striker as a poacher. Simple but it is what I use often and do pretty well. If you're needing other details I will provide ;)
Why don't you try 4-4-2, but use a defensive midfield covering the back 4 and play using counter attack.
I have won the Premier League and the Champions League with a 4-2-3-1 formation. I currently have Szczesny, Alaba (buy him or another elite left back), Montoya (bought him because Sagna is old), Koscielny, Vermaelen, Witsel, Ramsey/Moutinho (put the midfielders further as MCs not DMCs), Podolski, Eriksen, Ox, Neymar (BUY HIM!!!!! HE'S A BEAST, NO MATTER WHAT COST!!! He won World player of the Year 3 times for my Arsenal save)

p.s. I bought a ton of players when I sold Wilshere to Madrid for $114 m)
