Nothing works

Now I write this as a user of CM and FM since 1992 during which time I have enjoyed a fair amount of success, ie winning champions leagues.

I am using Rangers and have managed to get promoted to the SPL.

However I find myself struggling in almost every game. I am using a steady 4-4-2 tactic, morale is good, training is improving players.

Problems are;

Opposition having in excess of 15 shots per game (regardless of how much pressing, use of opposition instructions, altering players marking disciplines, high line or use of defensive midfielder.

Now my team are not world beaters but better than the opposition (other than Celtic) and yet game in game out they fire in on goal like a game of world cup in the school playground.

Defensive, controlling or attacking formation, nothing works. I have even gone to the lengths of playing the same match over and over again, making alterations but same outcome.

I have spent hours reading up on advice and guidance for setting up teams and that in addition to 20 years of playing these games has had little effect.

It is almost that the opposition decide if and when they win the game regardless of what I do.

You will need to patient with it until the players learn the tactic, but it will pay off in the end. It work very well for me didn't lose many matches but drew a quite few matches, didn't score hatful of goals but the tactic is possession football tactic with control in mind!. Also the matches I lost I never got stuffed by any team, lost by the odd goal or on penalties in the cup competitions but played them off field! with possession football. As you can see from the picture, I was using Runcorn Linnets a amateur club in the English North West Counties Premier Division (level 9 in English league pyramid). I won the league title and got promoted, also won 1 of 3 cup competitions that the club entered in my first season with them. Try not to change it to much! even when you are losing a match, it will pay off in the end. Try and look at the bigger picture (you can't run before you can walk), long term project!.
