Chesterfield appoint Accrington boss Paul Cook

Paul Cook has left Accrington Stanley to become the new manager of League Two rivals Chesterfield.

Cook, who joined Accrington from League of Ireland side Sligo Rovers in February, has signed a two-and-half year contract at The Proact Stadium.

"It's a fantastic club with a great infrastructure and I'm really looking forward to the challenge," Cook told the Spireites club website.

Cook, 45, replaces John Sheridan, who was relieved of his duties in August.

Chesterfield chief executive Chris Turner said: "Paul did a fantastic job in Ireland and has done well with a very small budget at Accrington.

"He's very hungry to succeed and hopefully the change of direction will bring success to the club."

Accrington are now looking for a new manager to take the reins at Crown Ground.

McNamara has one year to prove to the fans, the players and the boardroom that he is the right man to lead this club in the right direction.

Meet The Squad

It isn't the best squad in the league, however it also isn't the worst.

I can already see a few areas of the squad need strengthening, For example I could do with adding another winger and an attacking mid center.

I think the strongest area of the team is the defense and the defensive midfielders however I may look for someone to cover the fullback positions.

The squad I am working with is very young, the average age comes to 22. This could cause problems and I may need to find some experienced players to help me out.

Finding players to strengthen the team is going to be a hard task given that I have a tiny budget to work with.
Great story to your first story. I will be following this with keen interest.
