Only Practicing Together Brings Us Further

Salamanca began his career as a Center Forward in the youth academy of CE Sabadell FC, a Spanish outfit, in 1994. In 1996, when Salamanca reached the age of 16, he received his first first-team appearance against Valencia B. He went on to be a regular player for the team, and by 1998, he had established himself in the first team. In 1999, he was named captain. At the end of the 1999/2000 season, he had been one of the league's stand out performance.

He went on to be purchased by Villarreal where he served as a rotation option, scoring goals that would go on to force their promotion to the first division. The following year, he was sent out on loan to Atlético de Madrid, the club that he had supported for his entire life. Atlético were in the second tier and were in need of promotion. Salamanca put in a good effort, but Atlético remained below promotion.

The next year, Atlético Madrid made the deal permanent, after only one year of service at Villarreal, Salamanca pushed on to his career in the capital. He played well, breaking in to the squad even more often and assisting in securing the league title for his club.

For the next three years, Atlético Madrid cemented themselves as a mid-table side, and Salamanca began to earn Spanish caps, albeit in friendlies against weaker sides. Despite the up sides, by the end of the 2005 season, it became very clear that he had faded in to a backup as Atlético had accumulated many talented forwards.

As much as it pained him, he agreed to leave his home-club, travelling out of the nation in to dutch side AZ where he remained until January of 2008, when he was purchased by Portuguese outfit Maritimo. He played first-team and accumulated a large sum of goals, earning him even more international appearances. Sadly, in February of 2009 he suffered a serious shin injury, putting him out of football for good. He remained at Maritimo as a coach for three years until 2012, when he left, in search of a job as a manager.
