From Reading were in the Premier League in the 06/07 season I admire how they bring young players through and don’t tend to spend big, when they were promoted last season they would be expected to go straight back down but they do have a fighting side. Also a 10 million transfer budget did help in my choice to manage them.
Season 12/13
I knew this season would be a struggle and the main objective is to avoid relegation. Even though my squad is littered with mediocre players I decided not to sell anyone in the first transfer window and give everyone a chance. My main objective in the first transfer window was to bring some young players in with pace as my team are generally slow.Transfers in 12/13
Wes Hoolahan – Season long loan
Creative midfielder with good technical attributes
Didn’t break into the first team and wanted to return to Norwich, waste of a loan.
Wellington Nem – 3.5 million from Fluminense.
A FM wonderkid who I have purchased in previous stories with bigger clubs but he never developed fully. I hope to have my squad built around him in years to come.
Oscar Hiljemark – 900k from Elfsborg
A good midfielder with great work rate and determination, a lot of room to improve in years to come.
Michael Mancienne – Season long loan from Hamburg
A pacey centre, back who has all the attributes to become a great defender.
Nolito – 3.1 million from Benfica
Never heard of this midfielder before but he is your typical Spanish midfielder with great technical attributes.
Kevin Großkreutz – January loan from Dortmund
Happy that I managed to get this calibre of player on loan, great work rate and very versatile.
James McCarthy – 6.75 million from Wigan ( January transfer )
A young Irish playmaker that has a lot of potential, some very good technical stats.
Transfers out
No big sales, sold a few players in January as I really do not enjoy a big squad.
