From Reading were in the Premier League in the 06/07 season I admire how they bring young players through and don’t tend to spend big, when they were promoted last season they would be expected to go straight back down but they do have a fighting side. Also a 10 million transfer budget did help in my choice to manage them.

Season 12/13

I knew this season would be a struggle and the main objective is to avoid relegation. Even though my squad is littered with mediocre players I decided not to sell anyone in the first transfer window and give everyone a chance. My main objective in the first transfer window was to bring some young players in with pace as my team are generally slow.

Transfers in 12/13

Wes Hoolahan – Season long loan

Creative midfielder with good technical attributes

Didn’t break into the first team and wanted to return to Norwich, waste of a loan.

Wellington Nem – 3.5 million from Fluminense.

A FM wonderkid who I have purchased in previous stories with bigger clubs but he never developed fully. I hope to have my squad built around him in years to come.

Oscar Hiljemark – 900k from Elfsborg

A good midfielder with great work rate and determination, a lot of room to improve in years to come.

Michael Mancienne – Season long loan from Hamburg

A pacey centre, back who has all the attributes to become a great defender.

Nolito – 3.1 million from Benfica

Never heard of this midfielder before but he is your typical Spanish midfielder with great technical attributes.

Kevin Großkreutz – January loan from Dortmund

Happy that I managed to get this calibre of player on loan, great work rate and very versatile.

James McCarthy – 6.75 million from Wigan ( January transfer )

A young Irish playmaker that has a lot of potential, some very good technical stats.

Transfers out

No big sales, sold a few players in January as I really do not enjoy a big squad.
i have a soft spot for Reading after doing my own story on them, i managed a 3rd place finish in the 1st season :D .. Good luck :D and some nice signings you've made, especially Nem, v.good for reaing imo

Season Review

League Position: 16th
Carling Cup: Quarter final defeat to Man Utd
F.A Cup: 4th round defeat to Newcastle

Fixtures

League table

Before the start of the season I knew this season was going to be a struggle but I really didn’t think it would be this bad. Losing half of my games is shocking when you think of it. Relegation looked inevitable coming into the last 10 games of the league.
Beating Chelsea drawing against Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City was a pretty incredible run of games.

As you can see my new players bedded in very well. Pog and Adam Le Fondre did have a pretty impressive partnership with 34 goals between them.

Wellington Nem has really proved to me that he really has great potential.

Season 13/14

Ok so I survived relegation but now it’s time to kick on and get myself in the top half of the league. A cup run would also be good as it would be a way into Europe. First thing is to put my own stamp in to this squad, this means clear out a lot of players and bring in young exciting players.

Transfers 13/14

Robbie Keane – 6 month loan

A true poacher and will provide much needed experience to this squad.
Only played a handful of games before getting injured, decided to end the loan early

David Ospina – Free

A Columbian international goal keeper who did put in some good performances.
Needed a new keeper, Great attributes in areas such as reflexes, composure and command of area.

Kevin Grosskreutz – season long loan from Dortmund

An absolute work horse of a midfielder, extremely versatile too.

Jeffrey Bruma – season long loan from Chelsea

An energetic centre back who has really potential, had an excellent season for me.

Shane Long – 1.5 Million from West Brom

West Brom got relegated in the first season, Long had a poor season which meant he was undervalued.
A bargain that scored hatful’s of goals up front on his own.

Gérson – 2.7 million from Botafogo

A good all-round centre back that can also plan defensive midfielder.
He hasn’t developed as I thought he would but still a good player.

Alexander Soderlund - 5.75 million from Genoa

An expensive striker I bought who has proved to be more of an attacking midfielder, more of a rotational player.

Javier Garrido – 275 k from Lazio

Decent all round left back with bags of experience to help my back four.

Billy Jones – 2.3 million from West Brom

Good attributes in all areas with exceptional work rate and determination, a very good right back.

January transfers…

Ronaldinho Gaúcho – free agent…6 month contract

Brought a boost to the squad, even though he was old his physical stats were still great and he gave me a different option

Hiltinho – 800k from Sao Paulo

My first regen signing and this boy has the potential to become a world class keeper in years to come.

Jesper Andersson – 775 k from Malmo

Swedish regen, left midfielder… scouts continued to recommend him to me so I thought I’d take a risk.

André – 7 million (+ 7 million over 48 months) from Atlético Mineiro

My most expensive transfer yet but I think this player is worth it, still in his early 20’s and most of his attributes are 14+

Darren Fletcher – 6 month loan from Juventus

As a United fan myself I jumped at loaning him, phenomenal work rate and team work, great player.

Transfers out

Pavel Pogrebnyak – 6.5 million to Fiorentina

Even though he did score plenty of goaks in the first season he just isn’t good enough all round.

Jimmy Kébé- 1.8 million to Monaco

Wasn't going to get into my first team and requesting a transfer.

Adam Federici – 1.2 million to Arsenal

A very average goalkeeper…says it all.
Nice transfers there
2013-02-16 22:06#81257 jamo86 : Nice transfers there

Yeah I'm following, keep on going!

Season Review 13/14

Premier league: 9th
Carling Cup: 3rd round loss to Sunderland
F.A Cup: 6th round loss to Liverpool

The season was a massive improvement on last year with better performances. It didn’t start off well I only managed to claim 9 points out of my first 12 games and relegation looked on the cards again. It did take a while for my new players to bed in. I was hoping for a good cup run to qualify for Europe but came up short against Premier League teams in both competitions.

Most of my victories came against teams of a similar stature to me. But I did manage a 4-1 home victory against Man United. The highlight of my season has to be my 8-0 away victory against Cardiff with Wellington Nem scoring 5 goals in the first 50 minutes.

Shane Long was proved to be not only the best bargain for me but also the best in the League; he managed 25 goals in 33 games which included two hat tricks. Wellington Nem is really maturing into a great attacking midfielder and during this season he did start to add goals to his repertoire. He managed 16 goals and 18 assists in all competitions.

All in all a good season, all my players are still young and still improving so maybe I can get into Europa League next season ?
Keep on going mate, some pretty good players you got there :) Great job in the league, maybe Europe next year. Keep up the good work :D
Nice signings mate. I believe that you can challenge the top 4 this year with the signings.
