A Forester Takes Charge Of The Forester's

Local Footballer Paul Davies has taken the helm at Cinderford Town AFC. Paul Davies affectionately known as Sponge is a well-known person amongst the locals in Cinderford having lived there for nearly a decade and playing locally in Cinderford for Rank Outsiders A.F.C.

Davies will be taking Over Steve Peters as manager of "The Foresters".

Cinderford currently play there Home games at The Causeway, but plans are in place for The Town to move homes when it becomes financially sustainable.

The Causeway Ground, Cinderford

Back in 2007 Cinderford had to share grounds with local rivals Gloucester City at Meadow Road due to substancial flooding the was fixed and precautions have been implemented to prevent this happening again.

The Causeway, Underwater.

Cinderford ply their trade in the Southern League Division One South and West and finished 10th last season, With Peters handing offering his resignation for failure to challenge for promotion. Davies comes in with a measley £15pw wage budget and a £0 Transfer Budget. Paul will have to use his extensive knowledge of lower league football to help him in his cause.

We at The Citizen "Gloucestershire's Number 1 for Sport" offer Davies our support and wish him well in his endeavours.
Nice start cannot wait to see where this goes :)
Great update mate, I'll be looking at this story and interest.
Good Luck mate, I think we'll see you in the Prem very soon! :D
Good start Sponge, keep it up :)
Good luck Sponge, this will be a great challenge :)

Dear Town Fans,

I am writing this blog to you from the comfort of my living room for 3 reasons, First reason is to introduce myself to you all, some of you may know me from around and about town but I would imagine that a fair few of you haven't got the foggiest who the hell I am. My name is Paul Davies I am 25 Years Old and I have lived in Cinderford for the last 9 years. I am a football idealist and believe that real football is played at a local level, but that does not mean to say I do not wish for an higher standard from OUR local team.

Secondly I am going to explain what I hope to achieve whilst at Cinderford Town AFC, My first aim is to make it to the same level as our fierce rivals Gloucester City and take us up to the Blue Square North Division and then hopefully overtake them. I beg for your continued support of Town's progression, I can almost Guarantee that there will be good times great times and on an odd occasion some bad times, But as you know that is football.

Thirdly, Here my run down of our Pre-season fixtures in which we have under-taken.

We haven't really picked up any pace during the pre-season but I firmly believe that we have made a steady progress, Our main aim was to get everybody match fit and we have achieved that. Although we have only picked up 1 win during this year summers break, we have had some outstanding performances from the likes of Lewis Sommers and Dave Bird.

On A Brighter note we have made a few signings firstly there is Danny Facey a Grenadian International, still only 25 years old with plenty to prove.

And Tom Knighton on loan from Chippenham a young striker with an excellent finish.

Thank-You Foresters and may we speak soon, hopefully with some good news.

Paul Davies
Nice update Sponge, keep it up :)
Not the best friendly results but there are many of positives in having pre-seasons with lower league teams. And Dave Bird looks like a great player :)
