Sky Sports can reveal that Birmingham FC have announced that ex full back and ex Irish international Steve Finnan has taken charge of the first team.

Finnan was born in the Janesboro area of Limerick City, and moved to Chelmsford, England, at a young age. He began his career playing in Wimbledon's youth system, but he joined non-League club Welling United in 1993 after being released at the age of 16. Finnan turned professional when he signed with Birmingham City in 1995
Finnan went on to make 15 appearences for Birmingham, scoring one goal in a game against Watford.
Finnan was most successful during his time at Liverpool FC were he won The FA Cup, FA Community Shield, The League Cup, Uefa Champions League and Uefa Super Cup.
He is the only player to have played in the World Cup, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Cup, Intertoto Cup, all four levels of the English league football and the Football Conference.
Finnan ended his career at Portsmouth making his final appearence for the club in the 2010 FA Cup Final against Chelsea.
Finnan has been working on his FA and Uefa coaching qualifications and badges ever since, finally securing his first managerial role with Birmingham FC.
