Travis unveiled as new Leeds Manager
Leeds United have announced youth team coach Joe Travis as their new manager.

Travis, who at 28 years old will become the youngest manager in the Football League, takes over from retiring Neil Warnock at Elland Road.

The young manager was a member of the Leeds United academy, until a cruciate ligament injury cut his playing career short. Travis used his injury lay-off to complete his coaching badges and was offered a role as part of the Leeds United Academy in 2008.

Travis said, "Obviously I'm a little bit shocked that I got the job, but I believe I'm the man to take this club back to the top of the tree, which is where it should be."

Chairman David Haigh had this to say. "We gave the lad an interview, and he really performed more so than a lot of established managers. Joe has been with us for a number of years and all the lads know him. Some of the younger ones were even coached by him, which will help. I think we've made a clever decision, and I completely stand by it."
Travis pleased with local draw: CO Cup1st round: Leeds United vs. Preston North End

Joe Travis has stated his delight with the close proximity of the league cup draw.

"It's a good one because we don't have to travel a long way and it means the lads won't be too tired." said Travis. "We will be taking the game seriously and fielding a strong side. This competition is something we want to do well in and we will be doing all we can to progress to the latter stages."

Leeds today unveiled the singing of Pantelis Kapetanos from CFR Cluj. The Greek striker has joined for a reported £1.2 million sum.

Kapetanos, 29, is seen as a coup for Leeds, who have managed to lure the powerful target man from a club who could be playing Champions League football, but Travis didn't seem surprised.

"I think it's testament to the name of this football club." said Travis, "Pantelis knows who Leeds United are, of their history and of the monumental support, and he wanted to join us. I spoke to him about what we're trying to do here and he liked what he heard. I'm delighted we've got our man."

Travis also announced the loan signings of Matthew Briggs and Shane Duffy, from Fulham and Everton respectively, on season-long loan deals.

Ross McCormack has joined Celtic. The Scottish forward joins in a £2.2 million pound deal. McCormack looked to have lost his place following the signing of Pantelis Kapetanos, and Travis felt it was time to cash in.

"Ross is a very good player." Said Travis "But he's going to struggle for a place this season and when a club like Celtic offer a sum such as this it's hard to turn down. Ross wanted to go and we gave him our blessing."

Gritty Leeds win: Leeds United 1-0 Crystal Palace A Michael Brown penalty assured Leeds victory in their first home game of the season.

In a game that Leeds predominantly controlled, but were unable to break down a stubborn Eagles backline, the moment of the game came when Steve Morison was pulled to the ground by Dikgacoi following Duffy's crossed header. Michel Brown stepped forward, and fired Leeds ahead only 4 minutes after entering the field.
