Why FC Basel?

On this site there is quite a lot of stories that are in countries such as England, France , Germany etc. But None For Smaller Footballing european countries such as Eastern Europe countries and some of the Countries in Central Europe. Switzerland is one of these. Also it is because of A Fifa 13 Career Mode I did with basel. Winning 4 Champions League Trophies and Signing Cristiano Ronaldo! Finally I Have Decided to do this now after the Basel Chelsea game as it bought the club back into the spotlight and gave me memories of The FC Basel Giant Killings of Spurs and Manchester United.

Who Am I

Me :P

By Me I Mean Alex Murray. An FM Nut Who Played A Bit Of Football when he was young.

Today in the First Press Conference of the season Murat Yurkin Sensationally Resigned as manager of FC Basel. The Manager refused to comment on why he resigned but Swiss Press are Rumouring that it was due to the low wages the club where paying him. But the club have announced the New Manager in the Same Press conference. They have appointed unknown English manager Alex Murray, The new manager has no previous experience at the role but the club are optimistic about his chances. The new man required a translator as he could not speak the native German but He told the press that he will rectify the problem shortly.

Murray Joins FC Basel After the recent Transfer of Xherdan Shaqiri to FC Bayern Munich for an estimated 10 million euros. The Player was seen as FC Basels Star man but has moved on to the Champions league finalists.

However this will also be a sad week for Basel Fans as Swiss Legends Alexander Frei Retired. The 33 Year Old scored 73 goals in 103 appearances for the side in his second spell with Basel. He will be missed and fans will call on the new man to find a replacement for the Man.

Pre Season-With Added Disaster

http://www.tageswoche.ch/images/cms-image-001576133.jpg

New Manager Alex Murray Took his New FC Basel Team to FCV Dender For the first Pre-Season Game of the season. The team walked out in France looking to regain fitness and prove that they should play in the team but... After Only 11 Minutes Valentin Stocker Went down. All the staff at FC Basel where worried and we had right to be. Stocker was out for 4 months so would not play in the first half of the season. The club obviously needed a replacement so Manager Alex Murray Splashed the cash on 20 Year Old Steven Zuber From Grasshopper for a reported £1.6.

Anyway here is the Pre-Season Results For FC Basel

Jura Sud Foot 1-5 FC Basel 1893

FCV Dender 1-5 FC Basel 1893

Amiens 1-2 FC Basel 1893

Lierse 1-2 FC Basel 1893

Overall A Good Pre-Season Then.

FC Basel were drawn against B36 in the 2nd Qualifying round of the champions league. B36 is a team from the Faroe Islands so Basel will go with confidence into the game.
Unlucky to see your star injured straight away, but Zuber looks like a nice signing! :)
As LJO said, the injury to one of your star players was unlucky, but decent pre-season nonetheless!
