Donny Youngster Given England Under 19 Call

Doncaster’s promising central midfielder Anthony Calibri has been called up to the England Under 19 squad as an injury replacement. Calibri has featured 14 times for Rovers this season and everyone at the Club believes he deserves his call up.

Manager Pat Bonner said, “Anthony works so hard and he deserves this. He has played a part in some good games for Rovers this year and this will give his confidence an even bigger boost.”

Doncaster captain Rob Jones tweeted, “Great to see Ant in Eng U19 squad, great talent! #EnglandsFuture #GetHimOnTwitter!”

We managed to get a quick word from Calibri after the news broke, “What a feeling! I’ve always dreamed of pulling on an England shirt and now hopefully I will get a chance.” We also asked him about joining Twitter so we could get to know more about him and his response was quite short, “We’ll see, I want to concentrate on my football right now.”

January 2013 – What A Month!

Wow, where do I start! I played a few games, got my first assist and to make things even better, I’ve got a call up to the England Under 19 squad. When I received the call, I must admit I shed a tear, my dad always said this would happen and now it has. I’m so happy for him as well as me, he has been there through everything and deserves it.

The month in terms of football consisted of 3 brief substitute appearances and 2 starts in different Cup competitions. In my first start of the month, we played Championship Leicester in the 3rd Round of the FA Cup, unfortunately we were beaten 3-2 but we put up a good fight against a team in the division above us, I was given a rating of 6.1 for my 90 minutes.

My second start of the month was by far my best, in a convincing 2-0 win over Coventry in the JPT North Semi-final I managed to grab my first assist and set up a couple of others chances, I was given a rating of 7.1 for this game.

Excitement & A Hint of Disappointment Combined

Today should have been one of the best days of my life, I pulled on an England shirt for the Under 19s. I came on after 78 minutes in the 1-0 win over the Wales Under 19 team and played relatively well, completing the majority of my passes. But at the same time I am disappointed that I’m not with the Doncaster squad for the first leg of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy North Final against Accrington.

After appearing in every round up to now, I wish I could be involved but hopefully the team will play well and put us in a good position come the 2nd leg where I hope to be back in the team.

**Update** Thanks to a stunning hat trick from Chris Brown, we are in a brilliant position to book our place at Wembley as we take a 3-1 advantage into the second leg.
Soon, he will be no U19.. First Team top scorer, all time best.
Sorry not posted any updates recently, I will start to soon dont worry :-) Anthony Calibri has not disappeared!!
It's alright, this has the potential to be awesome :P
