2013-06-15 20:12#112688 Louis O. : Nice work getting some cash for the deadwood in the squad. Perhaps Wanywama could have come a little cheaper and I don't quite see the need in signing Litmanen, but if you have plans for him then something could work. Great signing in Carlos Fierro too, but I wonder whether you'll need him in the first season or not, what with Rickie Lambert and Jay Rodriguez also there.
Thanks. I may loan Fierro out but he is injured for 3 months so I will play him a bit and then he can go out. And for Jari....You will see.

HAHA Cheers mate Jari will turn into a world superstar if he is nurtured properly. :P

Redknapp’s View: A good pre season with only 1 defeat and that was to a top club. We scored a lot of goals and the team looks ready for the season ahead and that starts with a game away at Spurs.

Thanks mate.

August-First Steps

We endeavoured on our first small steps to success this month with mixed results. We had 2 tough fixtures but I knew we had a chance. I wanted to settle the squad down and get a result at least.

Spurs 4-1 Southampton
Lallana
Mattheus
Jamie’s notes: This result was difficult to take. Spurs had no Bale so I thought we had a chance. We started well but they showed that they were the better team. We did not deserve this defeat as we played better than them. We dominated the midfield with 34% of the ball in that sector but unfortunately the better team won. Adam Lallana scored a cracker of a goal but it was not enough.

Southampton 2-2 Newcastle
Lambert
Mattheus
Yoshida
Fonte
Jamie’s notes: This was hard to take as we took the lead very early on and then doubled in before half time. Newcastle were the better team ad they dominated the game and controlled possession. We conceded early on in the second half and then they took the game to us and equalised. I knew I had to play for the draw so I shut up shop and we managed to hang on.

League Table

It may look bad but trust me it’s not. We had two tough games and we managed to get 1 point which I am pleased about. We have a run of easy games for a month or two but we need to win those games to propel us up the table

Swindon 1-3 Southampton
Frei
Frei
Rodriguez
Frei
Jamie’s notes: A dominating win and we showed our class to overcome a tricky tie. We had 66% of possession and we also got 17 shots away at goal. We need to start converting chances but we are dominating in midfield so that is what I am pleased about.

Player of the Month: Adam Lallana

Adam has showed his class as a captin and put in some great displays. He dictates the midfield out wide and comes inside and he managed 1 goal and 1 assist.
Great pre-season but I would be a little bit concerned about that defence if I were Jamie :P

I know I am working on an experienced loan signing and I want a world class CB in jan.

Southampton Reject Schneiderlin Bid

Southampton have rejected a £7M bid for Morgan Schneiderlin from Liverpool. The French midfielder has been linked with a big move for a while and the bid did not come as a surprise. Liverpool wanted to boost their midfield and Morgan was a great fit but their bid was instantly rejected. Saints boss Jamie Rednkapp made a statement on the offer,

“Well firstly the offer is not good enough and secondly Morgan is a key part of the clubs future. We want to keep hold of our key players so that the club can move forward”.

Southampton may also be busy after being linked with Clint Hill and Gallas who could bolster their defence but it is unlikely a new face will arrive at Southampton.
Just to say guys if this story fails then I wont be writing a story for some time. I will come back eventually but if I cant stick to it then I wont be around. Thank you.
