Lecce relegated in match-fixing scandal

Lecce have been relegated two divisions after being found guilty of match fixing in the Scommessopoli scandal.

The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) made the decision to send Lecce to the Lega Pro on Thursday.

Their fate comes as a huge relief for Venetian side Vicenza, who despite losing a Serie B relegation play-off battle against Empoli last year, have now been re-instated to the division.

Carlo Tavecchio, president of Serie D and vice president of the FIGC, made the statement: "Vicenza (will play in) in Serie B, Lecce in the First Division (Lega Pro)."

The summit was also attended by the federal president Giancarlo Abete, Andrea Abodi and chief executive of Lega Pro, Mario Macalli.

The latter, after the meeting, said: "Lecce will play in Group A. Serie B will begin as normal tomorrow."

Grosseto were also initially relegated alongside Lecce but the Court of Justice absolved them from their initial punishment and re-instated them to Serie B.

The club's official statement read: "Grosseto and Piero Camilli, after acquittal by the Federal Court, thanks all those who have given proof of affection and participation to the Company and its President."

Lecce appoint Silvio Baldini

Lecce have appointed Silvio Baldini as there new manager after their previous manager was banned for life for his part in the scandal.

He started his coaching career in 1984 at the age of 26 with Bagnone,

He moved to Brescia in 1998, and Empoli one year later. In 2002, Empoli ended in fourth place, being therefore promoted to Serie A. On his Serie A debut year, Baldini led Empoli to a good 12th place. In 2003 he became Palermo boss, with the goal to guide the rosanero to immediate promotion to Serie A; however, he was fired on January 2004 following a 1-3 home defeat to Salernitana. He returned to coach in the 2004-05 season with Parma, being appointed at Renzo Ulivieri's place on September and sacked on December 2004, leaving his side at the second-last place in the Serie A table.

On September 2005, he was appointed as Lecce head coach, but was again fired on January 2006. On June 2007 he was announced as new Catania head coach.
On 26 August 2007, during the first league match, Baldini kicked the behind of Parma boss Domenico Di Carlo after being sent off and having engaged in a dispute with his opponent head coach. He consequently received a one-month ban due to his unprofessional behaviour.

Despite criticism, Baldini initially managed to achieve a better league position than his predecessor Pasquale Marino, and also led his side to a historical qualification in the Coppa Italia 2007–08 semi-finals. However, a row of poor results quickly pushed Catania down to 18th place, being potentially relegated as of Week 31, and with only three points ahead of last-placed Empoli, persuading Baldini to resign from his post on 31 March 2008.

He now returns to Lecce where trouble is no far around the corner , the fans are restless and demand promotion back to Serie A in three years can Silvio do it ? Savino Tesoro the club president believes so and has given Silvio 35 thousand pounds a week of wage budget to complete this demand.
This looks like an excellent starting point for a story.

And if you manage to get the personality of Silvio Baldini in to the story it should be a blast. It’s not every day you have a manager kicking the opponent’s manager.

I cannot remember the last time Fergie kicked AVB.
Looks more like he might have eaten Fergie. :D

Lecce announce Serie C kits

The fans love the new kit and have paid credit to kit manufacturer Nike and their kit designer Louis Ostrowski for giving the club a traditional but fashionable kit. One fan, Mario Senzanii said " I love the new kits they remind me of the 2007 Kits I thank Nike for these great kits"

According to local journalists Asir Del Horno has been spotted booking into a local hotel and is apparently set to sign for Serie C outfit Lecce with in days. Many fans are welcoming the move but a lot of media are dismaying the story as such an ability would never join a Serie C team especially one at the center of a match fixing storm.
Have you added anything else to this in the editor, such as players leaving, or reduced funding? Otherwise the first season will surely be too easy, unless you have a massive cock-up! Hope you stick this one though. Good luck.

FMH does not permit editing and we shall see ;) and half the teams are on minus points

This will be way too easy then probably.

Lecce produce a giant killing in the Italian Cup 3rd Qualifying Round

Despite all the gloom and negativity around Lecce this pre season , the players have made a step closer to rebuilding their reputation with an outstanding 2-1 in over Novara who were relegated from Serie A last year.

Goals from Giovanni Tomi and Claudio Maldonado gave the underdogs the win in the dying minutes after Simone Motta put Novara infront after just 45 Seconds. Leading them to a home tie against Calgari of Serie A in the next round.

Silvio Baldini " This is the greatest achievement of my career and is certainley going to stay long in the memory to win a game against a team like this is outstanding and I'd like to thank the board for giving me a second chance"

However one Novara fan , Kane Brooker said " It's not a giant killing it was there fault they got themselves into this position they are going to win the league easily and make through the cup unless they have a massive cock-up!

Fans Hit Back At Claims

Apparent 'fan' has hit back at false statements released, with an incorrect statement showing different views. Kane Brooker is expected to sue for the false claims going against his beliefs.

Kane Brooker was quoted to say " It's not a giant killing it was there fault they got themselves into this position they are going to win the league easily and make through the cup unless they have a massive cock-up!

However, he then spoke personally to others, and then gave the following statement:

"This certainly is a giant killing. People within the club have decided to take the easy route. Massive wins are expected every week now, and it could mean the club lose fans. Fans want action, but they don't want to know the outcome before the game even starts. However, if they don't win everything at their disposal with big margains, the club will be underperforming, and it will certainly be a massive cock-up!"

Kane Brooker is expected to be unhappy with the outcome, feeling the club can't accept a challenge and want to take the easy route.
Fair Play, good start! :)

A Transfer Window Round Up

Lecce have been very busy in the transfer window after being relegated to Serie C bringing in nine players and offloading 22 players in a very busy but professional transfer window by new boss Silvio or more commonly known on the training ground as 'Benito' due to his harsh training regimes and antics in the dressing room which included throwing a boot at 17 year old Rosario Lo Monaco after the Italian left back gave away a penalty in a pre season game and was consequentially loaned out.

The players brought in include a wealth of experience and boast 121 international caps between them. The most notable are Asir Del Horno , Emile Mpenza and Bernardo Corradi who played upfront for Man City in the infamous 2006/2007 season. Del Horno boasts great top flight experience with 238 appearances across the top leagues of Spain, England and Italy. Corradi at 36 is rather a one season wonder to get them back to Serie B and has scored 101 goals in 464 appearances before signing for Lecce while Mpenza is a frequent belgian international and holds the most goals by a Belgian ever with 19 in 57 Caps a strike rate of 1 in every 3 games. Other players brought in are Claudio Maldonado a vast experienced Chile international who has played for Flamengo and other Brazilian top flight clubs, Jose Marques , Mustapha Riga , Michele Pisanu and Davide Tinazzi.

Benito has sold promising 19 year old Ugo Gabrielli to Ascoli for a measly fee of 18 Kk and stated ' He was a prick , his attitude stinks and I caught him with my daughter, im choosing her boyfriend and she's not dating that shite.' also leaving the club are eight released players , Vittorio Triarico , Salvatore Foti , Matteo Legittmo ,Jeda, Lorenzo Franco and Vinicus. Also leaving are 9 youngsters on loan to get valuable experience in a season in which Lecce are expected to win the league and the Serie C cup.
