Swansea draw Vitesse in Europa League


Europa League: Swansea looking to progress further

Swansea City will play Vitesse in the Europa League Playoff

Vitesse have been drawn as the home team in the tie so the game will take place at the Gelredome on Thursday 23rd August 2012.

The current holders of the competition are Chelsea.

Swansea announce season ticket sales



Swansea City have announced the final sales figures for season tickets.

The ticket office has confirmed that the club has sold 16000 season tickets for this season.

Vitesse 1-0 Swansea City(Europa League Playoff)

A mild summer's evening at Gelredome saw Vitesse come out on top against a surprisingly lacklustre Swansea City side.

Vitesse finally took the lead when midfielder Davy Propper scored an accurate finish from 18 metres on 62 minutes.

Both teams had a number of attempts at goal, which promised much, but the quality of the finishing as poor throughout.

Man City coast past Swans


Aguero, Silva and Dzeko celebrate

Man City featured a number of exceptionally quick players and used them to full effect as they ran out winners on a wet afternoon at The City Of Manchester Stadium

World class winger David Silva gave Manchester City the lead with a placed shot on the 13th minute. Midfielder Jonjo Shelvey then equalised for Swansea City in the 15th minute with a header.

Strong centre-back Joleon Lescott put Man City infront in the 19th minute with a header. An error from Ashley Williams then allowed striker Edin Dzeko to score a well timed close range finish.

Swansea City 4-1 Vitesse(Europa League Playoff)

An efficient performance from Swansea saw them run out 4-1 winners over Vitesse at The Liberty Stadium.

Swansea City finally took the lead when midfielder Jonjo Shelvey scored a simple finish from close in on 69 minutes. Striker Ademilson doubled Swanseas lead with a deftly executed finish from close range on 99 minutes.

Ki Sung-Yeung had no trouble in scoring from the spot when Leerdam conceeded a penalty. Winger Tjaronn Chery pulled one back for Vitesse after 108 minutes with a close range effort.

Jonjo Shelvey complete the rout on 111 minutes with a deftlty exucated finish.

Swansea sign Miguel Veloso



Swansea have opened their cheque book to sign twenty-six year-old Portueguese defensive midfielder Miguel Veloso for £6,500,000 from Dynamo Kyiv.

The Portuguese international had found himself transfer-listed at Koncha-Zaspa training base but will now have the chance to get his career back on track with his new club.

Miguel Veloso's arrival may have caused some surprise amongst fans, having fairly recently joined his previous employers, but supported spokesperson Lynn Hinchcliffe revealed that they are keen to see their new signing settle down and impress.

Swansea loan Adam



Stokes Scottish midfielder Charlie Adam has joined Swansea on loan until the end of the season.

Adam has just joined Stoke from Liverpool for £4,000,000.

English transfer window roundup


The English transfer window has closed and teams around the country have been busy in the transfer market, spending in excess of £237m

Winger Antonio Valencia moved from Man Utd to Chelsea for a reported fee of £27M, Man Utd struck a £25m deal for tenacious midfielder Marouane Fellaini.

Tottenham saw solid centre back Younes Kaboul move to Serie A side Juventus for a fee of £19m, Tottenham stuck a £21m deal for full back Glen Johnson.

Newcastle saw cultured midfielder Yohan Cabaye leave the Premier Division to join Portuguese Premier League side SLB for a fee believed to be close to £20.5m

Chelsea were the biggst spenders in the country, running up a total bill of around £52m
