Problem loading game in FM GENIE scout

djhawkey : hi,

I do not know what happen but when I try to load my game using genie, it says that my game is not a valid FM file. I have disabled the "compress saved game" but it seems that my saved game can not be loaded either.

I am using the patch 8.0.1

Any recommendations about my problem??hope you can get me through this problem.

maybe you have WSM08 instead of FM08? I know this wasn't an issue with WSM07 and FM07 and Genie2007, but in this version there is a potential bug there, and users are reporting that it doesn't work with WSM08.

Mine is FM08. my version is 8.0.1 114310. is that the new version?coz, I have downloaded the patch from this site and then run the patch.after i run the patch, my version is as written above. I have unticked the "compress save file" and I have confirmed and save the new one. I have followed this forum's intructions and it seems that i still get the same problem. Any ideas?

Hi arie,
Yes this is the new version.
All that you do is correct, but is your game started before you applied the patch?
Because in order for this Genie Scout version to work, you have to start a new game after the patch.
If this is not the issue, I'm out of ideas. I'll be checking upon other users to see for more possible solutions or errors.

i have the same problem as the first post apart from mine says club data my be corrupt and not person data seems to be corrupt, don't know if that helps? i've done everything posted here and still no luck

I download the patch, but my last game version isn't changed. Thats pech.

I have the same problem with runci. I have downloaded the patch and run it, but my version is still the same. it doesn't change to be the version that was stated by same.

I've encountered an error I quite can't identify with any yet known ones..

An message-box is displayed, saying "Can't allocate the DIB handle."

Anyone who know anything about this..?

I've encountered pretty much all of the above error messages, and despite doing everything "workaround" in stam's topic, I still can't get it to work properly. I made sure that I'd installed the correct patch and started a game with it using the 8.0.1 database. After spending a load of time waiting for my game to finish loading up, I saved it without the compress option on and scout still refused to load it. The error message I received was exactly the same as Wonkydonk's first post. I then tried reinstalling the patch and loaded up a new game, this time using a small databse instead of large, I didn't load any extra players, and I only ran one league, the EPL. Once the game loaded up, I saved it and loaded it in scout. I have no idea why, but it worked perfectly. No error messages or anything, it worked exactly as it should. So... I figured that reinstalling the patch etc. had fixed whatever problem and decided to load up another big game. 29 leagues from 21 nations and a big load of extra players loaded with a large databse. After the long loading period I saved the game again and tried opening it with scout. This time I got the same error message I got first time, the same as Wonkydonk's. The save game with the small databse etc. still works fine, no problems with it at all, but for some reason my other save game won't load. Dunno if anyone will have any ideas about what the problem is, or if this bit of information will be helpful in working out what's wrong, but I thought I'd post it on here just in case.

2. Run FM, go to preferences and DISABLE "Compress Save Games"
3. Save the changes!!! <<important
4. Start a NEW game with the 8.0.1 Database selected.
5. Save the Game
6. Download and Run Fm Genie Scout.

Then Once you have followed these instructions then post! :p

Done it all, and it only worked running one league with a small database.

i did it, i've got large database with england north/south, spanish lowest league and german regional divisions, workds perfectly well

I think I'll have to try just starting from scratch, reinstall the game and work from there. Did you guys install the 8.0.1 beta patches first? I never had any of the betas, just waited for the full one to be released and got that. Any tips anyone can give me to make sure it all works would be much appreciated.

I did install the Beta patch first then installed the 8.0.1 full patch, so this might have a bearing on whether it works or not. The Genie Scout was being made to work with the beta patch so i suggest installing this anyway as a safety measure! :wink
