how to manage national teams

hey all
now i been playing the game for about 10 seasons but I remember that I didn't choose managing national teams in the game settings,so is it possible now to change this settings during my game as I need to manage national teams to unlock some challenges

Im pretty sure you just have to wait for a vacancy to become available then you can just apply for the job.

I tried but it only shows me that i can apply for b squads

how do you mean you didn't change the settings? how can you change settings to manage a national team from the start?
