Pre-season review

A rather productive pre-season for The Gunners saw quite a few of comings and goings and 4 impressive wins against Dundee, Inverness and Ross County during a tour of Scotland and a win against English lower league outfit, Tranmere Rovers. The final match came against a strong FC Porto side at The Emirates but a rested and weakened Arsenal side could only pull out a boring 0-0 draw.

The first game of the season sees North London rivals, Tottenham make the small trip across to The Emirates which promises to be an exciting and thrilling encounter which will not let down as Tony Adams looks to get one over Spurs in his first game as Arsenal boss.
Nice signings, hope they do well for you!
Thanks mate!

Arsenal starting XI: Mandanda; Mallo, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Vermaelen; Carzorla, Arteta, Walcott, Arshavin, Podolski; Giroud.

Tottenham come so close to levelling the derby after Bale's cross found Lennon at the back post who had far too much time and he struck the ball low past Mandanda but his shot bounced off the post and Mertesacker managed to clear.

Arshavin's early opener splits the North London derby after 45 minutes.

Both subs made after 53 minutes as Tottenham try to unlock the Arsenal door.

GOAL! Tottenham snatch an equaliser with just two minutes to go! Hugo Mallo scythed down Gareth Bale in the box and Jermain Defoe stepped up and rolled the ball calmly into the bottom corner. Heartbreak for Tony Adams and the Arsenal fans. 1-1.
Instead of doing a post for each update can I recommend doing a match report in one post...I think it is the preferred method but it is up to you.

Disappointment in the end for Arsenal after Defoe's controversial late leveller from the penalty spot.
