It's the first time this receives a standalone release because of the later than usual closing of the Chinese transfer window. This Update features more than 83,000 database changes.
A new save game will be required to play with these competition and data-specific changes in place. There are a few small general gameplay fixes included in this update and these will take effect in current careers.

A gameplay patch containing minor fixes and improvements is also included in this Update. These fixes will work in your existing saves.
To gain access to the new data and updated league rules you will be required to start a new game, however the majority of changes and fixes are save game compatible meaning you’re fine to continue any pre-existing save.
To update you will need to close down Football Manager 2023 and re-launch for it to update. If this does not work for you or you feel it has not updated you will need to restart Steam or Epic Games.
Even if that doesn't do the trick, then verify the game cache will.23.5 List of Changes
