Bruschi leads Pro Sesto into Quarter-Finals

Nicolò Bruschi single-handedly led his side further into the promotion hunt with a hat-trick and an assist in a 4-1 second leg win over Ancona.

With the scores level at 1-1 after the first leg in Marche, Bruschi earned all of the recognition for Pro Sesto’s advance in the Play-Offs, with the tie ending 6-2 on aggregate at Stade Breda.

Despite the eventual result, the match got off to a worrying start for Pro Sesto as Federico Moretti opened the scoring after just 5 minutes for Ancona through a goal-kick error by goalkeeper Federico Del Frate.

However, the lead did not last too long, with centre-back Emanuele Suagher latching onto a Nicolò Bruschi corner kick at the near post to equalise on the day and on aggregate.

Things got better for Pro Sesto, with Bruschi pouncing on an Alberto Pelagotti mistake to put his side in front just four minutes after the equaliser. By the 24th minute, Pro Sesto went two goals clear of their opponents with another Bruschi goal, this time through a drilled low shot past the keeper.

The score was settled just after half-time as Nicolò Bruschi completed his hat-trick with a spot-kick into the top corner of the Ancona net.

Pro Sesto will now face former Serie A outfit Siena in the Quarter-Finals after they overturned a 1-0 first leg deficit to win 3-2 on aggregate over their Third Round opponents Cesena.

James: We don't want a bottle job that I'll have to live down in chat again... :D
