Lambert Joins as Patton Replacement

Bransay Athletic have lost right midfielder Shane Patton to Meltham Athletic, a club competing three divisions above in the Huddersfield & District Association League.
The 24-year-old, a Bransay Harbour native, played all nine of the Irons’ North Northumberland League matches this season, contributing six assists. Patton’s departure is a blow for the club, but fans will wish him well as he steps up to a higher level of football.
In response, Callum Baird has signed 30-year-old right midfielder Danny Lambert who joins after being released by Northern League Division Two side Billingham Synthonia.
Lambert, born in Stockton-on-Tees, previously played for Northallerton Town, Billingham Town, Newton Aycliffe, Spennymoor Town and Marske United. Lower league fans may also know him from making 13 appearances and scoring once for Darlington in the National League during the 2011/12 season.
After failing to secure a club in the summer, Lambert contacted Bransay and Baird directly, seeking to regain his match fitness and make an impact.
“Danny’s experience at higher levels will be invaluable for us,” said manager Callum Baird. “Shane was a big part of our squad but with Danny coming in, we’re confident we can keep pushing for promotion.”
Bransay currently sit 3rd in the North Northumberland League with 18 points after eight games, trailing Berwick Town (19 points) and Swarland (19 points). With Lambert now in the fold, The Irons aim to maintain their challenge for the title as the season progresses.
