Long time Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has officially announced his retirement from management so he can spend more time with his family. The news came as a shock to the Arsenal team as they have spent their career at Arsenal under the management of Arsene. The supporters will hope that The Gunner's new manager can lead the team to glory, just like Wenger has done for years. Arsene Wenger has taken the responsibility of choosing Arsenal's new manager. Favourites for the job are former players, Dennis Berkamp and Tony Adams.

So, you have been given the opportunity to pick Arsenal's new manager. How do you feel about the board trusting you with this decision?

I'm very happy that they have trusted me with this. After all these years of managing Arsenal, I'm glad that I am able to make one more big decision for the club.

There has been many rumours about Tony Adams or Dennis Bergkamp being chosen for the job, have you thought about hiring a former player?

Yes, I have a good relationship with most of my former players, excluding people like Cashley Ashley Cole. I have not decided to hire one of Arsenal's many legends. I would personally rather hire someone who has good experience as a manager.

Have you made your decision yet?

Yes, I have already hired Arsenal's new manager, the decision, however, has not been revealed to the public.

Who is the new manager, if you don't mind announcing today?

I guess now is as good time as any. Arsenal F. C’s new manager is...

Gérard Houllier has been appointed as the new manager of Arsenal F.C. Former manager, Arsene Wenger has decided to hire Houllier for the job because he said that Gerard is an excellent manager with experience managing top teams in Olympique Lyonnais and Liverpool.

“Gérard Houllier is an excellent manager that was able to take Lyon to the Ligue 1 title and Liverpool to the League Cup, FA Cup and Europa League”

Wenger appears to have a good relationship with Houllier and that may have been part of the decision to hire him. The decision was revealed in an interview on Arsenal TV, if you haven't seen it then it might be worth checking out as it is Wenger's last Arsenal interview. The supporters are completely behind Houllier and hope that he can lead The Gunners to glory.

Pre-Season

Signings

In: Gino Peruzzi

Out: Sebastien Squillaci

After a good pre-season and a good signing I'm hoping that Podolski will carry on his form into August's games. Peruzzi is looking to be a good signing but I'm trying to sign a cental midfielder.

Not a very good month at all and not just because of the games. I wasn't able to sign a central midfielder after making panic bids on deadline day for; Gokhan Inler, Marek Hamsik, Cheick Tiote and Fernandinho. We had a lot of injuries, which blew a massive hole into the squad, meaning squad rotation in the midfield wasn't an option. Now most of the key players are back from injury, I'm feeling pretty confident coming into September.

Right! I know things haven't gone great since I have come here. I was only able to make one signing and I wasn't able to strengthen the squad properly in time, and we lost the North-London derby and we drew the Wigan game. Squad morale is pretty low at the moment, I get that, but I need to ask you all to stay behind me and my decisions.

If I may interrupt boss, I have something to say.

Yeah, go ahead Thomas!

It has been a rough start to the season, but we can't give up. We are, what, 2 games into the season. You, as the squad, have no right to be unhappy! We were all behind Arsene Wenger, he was and excellent manager, as most of us know. Therefore if he thinkserard can do a good job, then he will be able to do a bloody good job.

Thank you Thomas!

I have something to say too!

Go on then Gino.

As a new signing from somewhere very far away from England. I really struggled to get used being here and to a certain extent, I'm still not used to it. But the boss has really helped me settle in here. I have seen you play and you are an excellent team, and even if we only have one new signing, we are an amazing football club. We have the quality to win the league, no matter how we started!

Well said Gino! Are you behind me Arsenal!

YES!

Another horrible month for Arsenal and Gerard Houllier! We have had another horrific month in every competition. We took 6 points from 4 games in the Premier League, a loss in the Champions League and I have been knocked out of the Capital One Cup. I think it's time for a change of tactics!
