Van Der Looi's departure

The Euroborg, Home to Groningen FC
It was at this very ground that the fans of Groningen Football Club winessed their team beat the likes of Ajax 1-0, Feyenoord 6-0, and even against a fully fledged PSV team 3-0 just weeks after being battered a whopping 6-1 by the Dutch giants.

It was wins like these that brought new hope to the fans. Hope that one day...one day soon, they would be the team to beat, the team that wins the league title year in year out and the team fighting for one of the biggest prizes in football, the UEFA Champions League.

This hope, was brought to the fans by none other than Erwin Van Der Looi, He was the man at the heart of the team and he looked like the person to bring glory to the city of Groningen however, the chances of that, now seem slim... as Erwin announced today that he couldnt carry on as manager of the team and needed to take time away from football to take care of the people he loves, after a very sad and unexpected death in the family. A short, and brief statement has been released from the board of directors...

"We are very sad to announce, that Erwin Van Der Looi will no longer be the man in charge of this football club after he handed in his resignation earlier this morning. We wish him all the best for the future, and want to make it clear that he is always welcome back and we hope to see him back in managment soon."

Very Nice Start, Good Luck :)
Cheers mate. I hope this doesnt turn out like Fiorentina:P but ive been getting into this:)

Groningen Gamble

Today, the board of Groningen Football Club have shocked football fans from all over the world, by hiring 25 year old Aaron Hardy as their new manager! It is thought that Hardy will become the youngest professional manager in all of Europe, and possibly the world.

Hardy has got his coaching badges and passed with flying colours, although no past experience is what has mainly irritated the fans! Some pundits and players have spoken out, here are just a few...

"Im absolutely amazed at this! I can't quite get my head around it, one minute Groningen are destined for glory and the next we headed back down the drain! The board need to wake up and realise what they have done!"

Luis Suarez on his former clubs current situation

"Personally, I think it's too soon to judge! I don't think Hardy would have taken this job if he didn't have faith in himself so I think he has something up his sleeve, and I can't wait to see how Groningen do!"

Dion Dublin, on Groningen's new manager's ability

So two different views on the matter from two very different people, it is thought Hardy has a Press conference scheduled for 7pm tonight it will be his first public interview at Groningen!

The Press conferance

*Hardy walks in, cooly. Taking the seat in the middle*

Journalist 1: Good afternoon, Aaron, how are you?

Hardy: I am very well thank-you. Can we get on with this?

Journalist 1: Yes, sure! First of all, do you have faith in yourself? I mean, you're only 25 years old, the youngest professional manager in the world... Can you take this club to goy?

Hardy: Well, yes. I am confident in my abilty, I think people should have more faith in me, Luis Suarez for instance. People could take a leaf out of Dion Dublins book, and I want to thank him for his support, like people say, age is but a number.

Journalist 2: Evening Hardy, what are your goals for the season? How do you want Groningen to play football?

Hardy: Well, my goals for the season would probably to set the foundations for my team and get a solid top half finish, I want to get this team ready for rebuilding.

Journalist 3: How do you think your players will react to you becoming a their new manager? After replacing such a well known face around the city of Groningen?

Hardy: Well, that doesn't matter for now! What matters is they bond as a team first and get a few wins under their belt, then and only then can I start to get to know my players, when they have faith in me and I have faith in them.

Journalist 2: Last question, Where do you see this team in 2 years time?

Well, 2 years is a long way away, but I think in 2 years we will be challenging for the title and European football!

Journalist 2: Ok, Aaron, Thanks for your time.

Ok, See you soon.
Good luck man!! Hopefully you are able to stick with this story. Will you be cleaning house again with the staff?
Haha, the way the save is going...I definitely will be sticking with it, I won't be cleaning out the house yet as I don't have good reputation but when I do better (hopefully winning the league, getting into Europe) I will then clean out the house:P

Hardy signs first player

Today, Groningen football club have revealed their first signing under the reign of new manager Aaron Hardy. Jordy Buijs Signed his 3 year contract last night and we expect him to become Hardy's first choice Central defender at the club. It is rumoured he was bought for a fee of around €500K to €1M. Both manager and player have spoken to journalists about the move and here is what they had to say...

"I am personally, very happy to move to Groningen, Aaron has promised me first team football and that sadly, was not what I got at NAC. Everybody has made me feel really welcome and I feel like this could be my home for a long time!"

~ Jordy Buijs

"I am very happy we managed to finalise this deal before the start of pre-season, I
think it'll help Jordy settle in and gel with the rest of the squad. There is a lot of work to be done though and I think this new signing can boost our hopes of success this season."

Pre-Season review

SV Spittal 0-2 Groningen

Munsingen 0-3 Groningen

Salernitana 0-1 Groningen

Groningen 1-2 AS Monaco

Hardy's Analysis

"Well, this month I thought I proved my critics wrong...for now. I think our three away wins will boost confidence in the squad and I also think it helped the lads gel together. We cant be too hard on ourselves against Monaco, we were expected to lose and we did. But we gave it our all, and thats what I want to see, even if it is just a friendly, determination is key. I think Kirm deserves Player of the month, for his solid performances, and even for pitching in with the goals scoring two against Spittal and Munsigen.

Your, Groningen Player of the month, Kirm.
Nice hair Kirm lol. Pretty good preseason.
Very, lol! I think I'll change the outlay of the review.
I do apoligies for the SV logo, I couldn't find an SV Spittal logo in the logopack i was using. so i used the one that looked nearest to it.

Groningen Reveal kits for 2013/14

These are the three kits that Groningen will be using for the new season, it seems new manager Aaron Hardy felt his new team needed a change and decided that this year addidas would be their new brand. Also, the PS4 sponsor seems very unique as it is expected Groningen will be the first team in the world to run out on to the pitch with the PS4 logo on there shirts. Here is what Hardy and captain Bizot had to say...

"well I think Addidas have done a fantastic job! We asked them to do a job and they did it perfectly, I think this new look will state my intention of staying here for a very long time."

~ Aaron Hardy

"I think they look very smart, Addidas have done a great job and I think this kit will go through some good times. But as always, its not the kit that matters, or the name on the back. Its the badge on the front, and each and every player in this team will play their hearts out for it."

~ Bizot
Sexy kits...
Indeed, if only I knew who actually designed them:( shame...:P
