Mark Hughes, the Stoke City manager, has left the Premiership club with immediate effect for personal reasons, it was announced on a press conference this morning.

"It is with much regret we announce, by mutual consent, and as a result of genuine personal circumstances unrelated to his tenure as manager of Stoke City Football Club, Mark Hughes has, with immediate effect, parted company with the football club," a statement said.

The 49-year-old managed Queens Park Rangers before taking over Stoke. He took over at Stoke in May 30th, 2013.

"The reasons for Mark's departure are fully understood by the board, who sincerely regret that he is leaving," the club said. "We are fully aware that achieving managerial stability will create the conditions necessary for success on the football pitch."
Good luck :D

"The board will be 100% behind him, and hopefully the fans will too." He continued.

This will be Pires' first job as a manager, having no previous experience. Pires played for Metz, Marseille, Arsenal, Villarreal and Aston Villa during his career, and was capped 77 times for the French national team.

An encouraging preseason campaign was shown by Stoke City as they won 4 out of 5 of their preseason games, staying undefeated. Their first game against Zenit saw in-loan winger Oussama Assaidi score a brace to draw. Another brace by Elyounoussi inspired a five-nil win against Scottish side Clyde. Young striker Benzia scored two goals to see Stoke triumph over Leyton Orient. The next two games saw clean sheets and a solid defensive display by Ryan Shawcross and Robert Huth, who will be key to Stoke's success this upcoming season.
Very Good Pre-Season. Good Luck :)
good luck man

League Table

One of the best starts in Stoke's history sees them top the Premier League three games into the season. The team is notably playing a more fluid and balanced football as opposed to the "anti-football" as described as Cesc Fabregas, that was Stoke's preferred playing style before Pires took over. Many pundits see this start as a fluke, but the Potters will try to continue their perfect start to the 2013/2014 season.

Player of the month

Stoke's captain commanded his defensive line to only concede 1 goal in three games.
Good three games in the premier league but you were unlucky in the league Cup. :)
