Aitor Karanka, an ex-Spain international and Real Madrid defender, has announced to public that he is eyeing clubs vacant of managers in England, particularly the top two leagues, and will be applying for any available.
Karanka has spent the last three years as assistant manager to Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid, but left the Bernabéu along with his boss. It seems rather than following Mourinho to Chelsea, Karanka has opted for joining a smaller club, but having a larger role.
"I will not be joining Jose at Chelsea," Karanka told press, "I will be looking for jobs around the Championship and Premier League in England, though. That is where I would like to work as a manager."
Tony Mowbray has recently been sacked as manager of Middlesbrough. Karanka is now favorite to take the helm at the Riverside Stadium, though there are several others in the mix for the job.
