Club History

Olympique de Marseille (French pronunciation: [ɔlɛ̃pik də maʁsɛj], locally [ɔlɛ̃ˈpikə də mɑχˈsɛjə]; also known as l'OM IPA: [lo.ɛm], locally [loˈɛmə]) or simply Marseille, is a French association football club based in Marseille. Founded in 1899, the club play in Ligue 1 and have spent most of their history in the top tier of French football. Marseille have been French champions nine times and have won the Coupe de France a record ten times. In 1993, the club became the first and only French club to win the UEFA Champions League. In 1994, Marseille were relegated because of a bribery scandal, losing their domestic trophy, but not the UEFA Champions League title. In 2010, Marseille became French champions again, under the stewardship of former club captain Didier Deschamps.

R-Well Michael, you sit here the new manager of Olympique Marseille. How does it feel?

MO-It feels amazing, I've always wanted to manage a football club and I'm privileged that Marseille have given me the chance to do this.

R-What do you plan to achieve with Marseille?

MO-I plan to win as many trophies as I can here, and make them the best team in football history.

R-What do you think to the facilities here at Marseille?

MO-The facilities are brilliant, the stadium obviously is awesome and I can't wait to get my team on there.

-Do you already have a team in mind or will you be giving people chances?

MO-I intend to give everybody a chance to show me what they have got.

R-Will you be looking to bring in players to the club, or keep what you have got?

MO-I will be looking to bring in a few players, I have a few in mind.

R-Can you give us one name?

MO-No, I can't they are private club matters!

R-Thankyou for asking these questions, and I hope you have a long and successful career at Olympique Marseille!

MO-Thankyou very much!

Two In,One Out At Marseille!

It seems that it hasn't taken Michael Owen long, to use the transfer market. This week has seen one player leave Marseille and two players being brought in. The player to leave Marseille was Benoit Cheyrou who went to Standard Liege for a fee of £165K. The first player to join Marseille was Dmytro Chygrynskyi, who joined from Shakhtar Donetsk for a fee of £25M. When asked Michael Owen said this"Dmytro is a great signing, at 26 years old he is still fairly young." The last player to join Marseille was Will Hughes who arrived from Derby County for a fee of £4.3M, he had this to say on his new club."Marseille is a great club, I feel they have a lot to prove and I hope to be part of that success with them."

Dmytro Chygrynskyi

Benoit Cheyrou

Will Hughes
Personally, i think 26 mill could of gone to a better place:P but still, some very good signings and will hughes is a beast!!
great job bringing Hughes in, it fits in with the storyline too (English manager + English player). Also, are there any restrictions on the players that you can sign at Marseilles? good story so far mate, like the choice of manager
AaronHJFT96 - It probably a little over priced, but I needed a centre back so he was worth it:))
NVDTahir - Yeah it fits in well lol. I don't think they are restrictions, hopefully not anyway:)
HUGHES FTW!

right thread this time :)
