i read the first pages and will continue to read it

2013-12-22 20:42#150669 Jozef : Basel beat Dortmund? Stoke beat Wolfsburg? Dortmund are in the Europa League? Stoke are in the Europa League? BRAUNSCHWEIG ARE IN THE EUROPA LEAGUE? What the hell is going on?

My thoughts.
Awesome job with Braunschweig mate :)

Correia gets first Portugal cap

Eintracht Braunschweig defender Marcel Correia has picked up his first cap for Portugal in a 3-0 friendly win vs Argentina. Correia held a Portuguese passport, although he was in fact born in Kaiserslautern. Nils Texeira, a full back playing for 1860 Munchen, was also on the bench, despite being born in the former capital of West Germany, Bonn, but he did not get out onto the pitch.

Correia came on as a 78th minute substitute.

Portugal took the lead just 8 minutes in, through Cristiano Ronaldo who drilled a low efort underneath Argentine goalkeeper Sergio Romero. Despite their dominance, Argentina did not score until the second half, and late on in the first, Argentina's left back Emiliano Insua was sent off for a two footed lunge on Joao Mouthino. After 56 minutes, Fabio Coentrao volleyed home a fantastic lobbed pass from Nélson Oliveira on the counter, and on 78 minutes Oliveira scored himself, catching Sergio Romero out of place after being put through in yet another of Portugal's counterattacks. Correia was called into action and off the bench after the 3rd goal and did well to protect his side's lead.

Correia has been in top form this season for Braunschweig. The former Kaiserslautern defender, who was signed by Braunschweig in 2011, has played 21 of Braunschweig's 28 Bundesliga games this season. The club sit in 8th spot in the table, though had not won in their 9 Bundesliga games until defeating Werder Bremen 3-2, acquiring just 3 points, all draws. However, Braunschweig have not conceded more than twice in one game during this lean spell, meaning that overall they have just conceded 30 in 28 games, though have only scored 28.

Correia was delighted after making his first international appearance.

"Obviously I'm delighted to have my first cap for my country, I didn't expect it at all, so when the call came it was just: wow. I want to thank Torsten Lieberknecht, for bringing me to Braunschweig, I want to thank Benno [Mohlmann], the Braunschweig coach, he's doing a great job, and of course, Paulo Bento, for believing I have what it takes to represent my nation."

Bento was more subtle when praising Correia after the match.

"I knew that the time was right for Correia to play for Portugal. I know he was released by Kaiserslautern when he was younger, and when a player has been through something hard you know when they get to the top they don't let go. I'm confident that Marcel is good enough and he played well enough there to justify his place in the squad. We'll just have to see how he plays for Braunschweig until we decide who to pick for our upcoming European Championship Qualifiers. I know we can win our group, too, and maybe we just need a little extra help from Marcel and Nils [Texeira].
I did a Braunchsweig on UFM- were the worst team in the EPL,Lala Liga, Serie A and the Bundensliga; avoided relegation :)

You've done brilliance with the weak Braunch team, good job.

Why are Braunschweig players playing at high level internationally. Your save doesn't make sense Louis.

Fortuna Dusseldorf vs FC Augsburg

- GOAL! - Raffael - 12 - 1.FSV Mainz 05 0-1 FSV Frankfurt
1-0 to Frankfurt, Raffael with the goal! Disappointing for Mainz, a soft goal to concede, they had too many people forward, from Baier's free kick, Schahin missed the target with his header, but it was kept in and cleared, Frankfurt got the ball with Raffael who ran the length of the pitch and beat the goalie. 1-0.

- GOAL! - Markus Ziereis (P) - 16 - 1.FSV Mainz 05 0-2 FSV Frankfurt
Penalty kick! Raffael put the cross in, Mlapa went up for the header, was fouled, Ziereis with the chance from 12 yards, sent Christian Wetklo the wrong way.

- GOAL! - Sascha Molders - 23 - 1860 Munchen 0-1 1.FC Koln
And the goal comes half of the way through the first 45 and it is a goal too! The ball didn't even touch the ground! Bruno Nascimento's long free kick, headed on by Ujah, and headed over the keeper by Molders for the lead.

- Red Card - Benedikt Howedes - 27 - FC Schalke 04 0-0 Eintracht Braunschweig
Schalke go down to 10 men after half an hour! Howedes the defender is the man who will make the walk of shame back down the tunnel. Diagne failed to deal with the long ball, Quiring was in on goal until he was brought down by Howedes. Kruppke's resulting free kick is saved by Unnerstall.

- GOAL! - Mortiz Hartmann - 31 - Fortuna Dusseldorf 0-1 FC Ausgburg
What a goal! An inspirational goal from Hartmann! Ohh yes! Delightful! Fahrmann will have his regrets in the Dusseldorf goal but, and I say this truthfully, no keeper in the world would have stopped it.

FC Schalke 04 0-0 Eintracht Braunschweig
1860 Munich 0-1 1.FC Koln
1.FSV Mainz 05 0-2 FSV Frankfurt
Fortuna Dusseldorf 0-1 FC Augsburg

Second Half
- GOAL! - 49 - Sascha Molders - 1860 Munchen 0-2 1.FC Koln
Another goal for Molders and Koln! Volley from Molders beat the keeper, the cross coming in from Daniel Halfar, a former 1860 man, 2-0!

- GOAL! - 53 - Sebastian Polter - 1.FSV Mainz 05 1-2 FSV Frankfurt
Mainz caught Frankfurt on the counter! They have one back, and they are back in it with a chance. The home fans are delirious, they believe in their team. Boll gave it to Baier, he had an opportunity, and unselfishly cut back, to Polter, who blazed it in from outside the box.

- GOAL! - 55 - Timo Perthel - FC Schalke 04 0-1 Eintracht Braunschweig
GOAL! Perthel! Korte with the cross, and Perthel headed it in at the far post. Braunschweig lead here, 1-0, though Braunschweig will feel a little lucky, Unnerstall was out of position, no one marked Perthel, free header.

] - GOAL! - 69 - Joni Kauko - 1860 Munich 0-3 1.FC Koln
Another goal goes in, and how seldom have we seen this, the side from a lower division lead by 3! Kauko gets the goal, a corner from Halfar comes in, Wimmer headed it across goal, no one went after Kauko, no one went after the ball, and he just knocked it in.

- GOAL! - Omar Ellabdellaoui - 77 - FC Schalke 04 1-1 Eintracht Braunschweig
A late goal here to level it! 1-1 and Schalke level it, in front of 60,00 cheering supporters, through the man they signed from Braunschweig. On the half volley, right in the corner, unstoppable shot.

- GOAL! - Roman Neustadter - 81- FC Schalke 04 2-1 Eintracht Braunschweig
And how about that! Another late goal, 2 in quick succession and Schalke turn the tables as now, they lead! Neustadter with another half volley after a corner wasn't properly cleared, he's fired it in via a deflection and that must win it.

FULL TIME

This story is unreal. So much attention to detail. Teach me!
AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH Sascha Mölders scored twice. TWICE
Another amazing write up!! How long do they take? Also sucks abut the loos but you can now just work on the league and the second leg against Swansea. Good luck.

In other news, some great updates! Shame that you lost but now you can focus on the league. :)
Ouch tough loss there against 10 men! Great updates as always
