German 5th Division Manager Gets Death Threats, support for him follows
Berliner Football Club Dynamo is a club based in the German NOFV-Oberliga Nord. They have had an interesting history dating back to their beginning back in the 1960s. Since the German Unification they have mostly played in the same division. The Record holders of the old DDR-Oberliga (10 titles) made news recently when their president and manager were kicked out of football due to a scandel involving Ex Stasti members,
Manager Uluc and President Uhlig out of Dynamo.
Recently during his first interview a pack of the clubs Ultras invaded the building and demanded that he (Mike) will leave the club as soon as possible. Their main issue was the fact that he was a coach for Bundesliga side and city rivals Hertha BSC. During this invasion they stated that they owned the club and that he was unwanted. At one point one of them even threatened his life. Luckily security arrived before things got more out of hand.
"Mike had a feeling something bad was going to happen and it did. I hope these thugs get jail time."- Teemu Klopp, Berlin Free Press. Klopp explained that during the confrontation Mike stood his ground and maybe proved that he was not scared.
After news came out about the invasion and subsequent death threats many people tweeted in support of Korrigan.
" I want to thank everyone for their support and that makes me feel better, I forgive these men for their actions and hopefully they see the positives I want for their club. I am staying"-Mike Korrigan, BFC Dynamo Manager.
With this issue the club is looking to petition the DFB for a professional license. A spokesperson for the club said this will help curb the violence and possible issues that may arise in the future also we are looking to increase ticket prices to stop undesirable fans from coming in. We are a club who is looking towards the future and incidents like that hold us back.
The men who committed these crimes will now face a Berlin Court and could face jail time for death threats and trespassing.
