Paris FC - The Other Side of the City

Hi guys, welcome to my first FM14 story!

I already wrote several stories on this site including "The Darts Regenerated", "A new giant in Europe" or "The Hot Seat" (second version), yet most of the members won't remember my first story (wasn't exactly the first, never mind), where I nearly managed to lead Paris FC up to Ligue 2 on FM12, but my game crashed with three games to go before the end of the first season.
Since then I feel as if this Paris FC save is an accomplished work and I knew one day I would come back at the head of the club to achieve promotion.

Now all of you have understood that today is the day! I just created the save and discovered that nearly all my key players on FM12 left the club since. Media's prediction is 14th and I have to strengthened all the areas in my squad without any money to spend and a VERY tight wage budget!
Promotion will be a hard task and I set as season expectations a first half finish.

My manager will be the former semi-professional footballer Alex Sonwild, 38 year old. Sonwild has a Continental Pro Licence and is a Paris FC supporter. He will be discovering the world of management at the same time that I discover the world of Football Manager 2014 as I only had a very short experience of the game since I bought it.
I will do updates at least every months in game.

The derby between US Créteil Lusitanos and Paris FC finished without a winner, but the points that each team gained have a very different meaning.

For Créteil it's a synonym of league title and promotion to Ligue 2, thanks to second placed Metz defeat at Cherbourg (3-1). But for the third division veterans it's a disaster.
The club, which is already in a poor financial situation is going down to CFA after seven consecutive seasons in French National. "Le PFC" had to win but they missed to many chances to take the lead in the second half, when Créteil defence started to get tired and clumsy.

It was Créteil who scored first, Jean Michel Lesage finding the back of the net after only three minutes, but Paris reacted quickly and Karl Toko Ekambi equalized ten minutes later.
Just after half-time Ekambi could have score once again but, despite an open goal, he found the cross bar. Murcy was denied several times by Creteil's goalkeeper, who was his team best player today even if he had to rely on Di Bartelemo in extra time.
The defender cleared off the line a superb header from Diawara on the last chance and corner off the game.

Uzès Pont du Gard, who lost yesterday agains Rouen, is also going down to CFA, after only one season in National.
Next week will know who will be the last team to go down. Four teams are still trying to save them self: Red Star, Boulogne, Luzenac and Bourg-Péronnas.

Paris FC searching for a fifth manager in one year!

Since Alain Mboa resigned from his Paris FC role at the end of the 2011-2012 season, the club saw three managers failing to find success with the second club of France's capital.

Olivier Guillou won one of his eleven games with PFC. He was replaced in November by Alexandre Monier who spend nearly five months, only wining his first game.

The next manager was Gaston Diame. The Senegalese managed to change things at the Stade Déjerine, and the supporters even started to think that he could save the team from relegation.
Diame was close to achieve his nearly impossible mission, unfortunately the club horrible first half of the season was a too severe handicap.

Paris board offered to Diame the possibility to extend his contract, but the manager preferred to part ways. His successor should be a young manager, probably a former player as Stéphane Lucas (former GK, 100 games for the club).

Paris FC hire Sonwild as manager.

The Paris FC 2000 board have announced the appointment of Alex Sonwild as the club's new manager. Sonwild, 38, played for three years at the club and managed 65 appearances. He had other spells with French semi-professional as FC Rouen, FC Bourg-Peronnas, Arles-Avignon and GFC Ajaccio.

At the end of his player career five seasons ago, Sonwild decided to learn the basics of management and he rapidly received his Continental Pro Licence.
Yet it will be Sonwild first venture as a manager. The Frenchmen only has previously worked as a coach with Ligue 1's club Lorient and a assistant-manager with Ligue 2's Lens.


"He won't abandon us in a poorer financial situation than today."


Last season, Paris FC had three different managers. The last one being Gaston Diame who was close to save them but finally the team's bad start to the season [2 wins under the two first managers] doomed them, they couldn't escape relegation to CFA (4th division).

'I'm very happy that he is back at the club. He was a great lad and a great player.
'At the time I was still young, I only used to play in cup games or to come in for ten minutes when we were winning by a secure margin. But he was very helpful and contributed to my development.
'He always had a good advice, or he could make you laugh and feel better after a bad performance. Alex would have been a great captain and he will be a great manager!

When we asked Sonwild about what kind of deals or approach would be make on the transfer market, he answered that "each area of the squad could do with one or two player more".
'I still haven't meet the squad and my assistant manager is currently setting up a team report for me. But I can still confirm that there will be departures. I was warned during my interview with the board that there are players who wants to leave, and we really have to reduce our wage bill, it is way to high.



"Every football club needs stability"

The reactions we collected on the social networks are mostly indicating that the fans are hoping for consistency. Louis O posted on Facebook: "Five manager in 12 months is unacceptable. Now we need to let Sonwild the time to find the right approach with the team. If we don't put to much pressure on him, I believe he will find the key to success!"

The former PFC manager Julien Rivière (he is considered by many fans as the club's best ever manager, read his story!) confirmed this thought via his Twitter account:
"I wish good luck to @Sonalexwild with @PFC_Officiel. Every football club needs stability, and you can't do like Paris last season: changing gaffer every 3 months! Let time to Alex and he will succeed. I was the manager who bought him for his first spell and he always was one of my favourite player. A great mate too! So let him time, no pressure and c'mon PFC!!! #ACapitalAmbition".
