What is the Pentagon Challenge?

You start unemployed with a Sunday League reputation and you try to win all five continental Champions Leagues(European Champions League, South American Champions League, Asian Champions League, African Champions League and North American Champions League) in one save game.

I had the choice of Witbank Spurs or Jomo Cosmos ( I had a couple more, but I decided Africa was the first one to try)


Now I have arleady played the first season without doing monthly updates so I just decided to give you a summary of my season where I signed for Jomo Cosmos *

Who are Jomo Cosmos ?

Jomo Cosmos is a South African football (soccer) club based in Johannesburg that plays in the National First Division. The club is owned and coached by South African soccer legend Jomo "Black Prince" Sono. Anyways.


* and was predicted to finish 3rd with a playoff spot. My goal was to win the league and we shall see if those goals were achieved this season.

Now my first most important signing this year is:

Easily my best CD I've had on my team all season long. Nothing else to say he wasn't that great, but he was much better then my other CD.

My second important signing the first year is:

I was searching for a great LB to go with my tactics which I found on the internet and so far love. This guy played a solid season and I'm happy that he's one of the young hopes of the team.

Well at start I thought I did a horrible mistake by departing my captain and first goalkeeper, but I just felt there was time for a change for a fresher younger goalkeeper and he started of really bad, but has proven that he is a real wall so I don't regret signing Vozinha and firing this guy.

Huge paycheck, too old he was good, but not that good enough said...

The flops of my transfers were only a few and mostly cause of injuries:
Taaibos - Injured for 4 months couldn't do much with him after that.
Ndlovu - was an OK option for a while before I switched to some younger players.
DlanguDlangu - My scout is stupid at times (I know look at the attributes first bla bla)

First part of the season was solid, but it was meh

and the 2nd part of the season. The only thing I can say is taht this season wasn't that great by any means but I got a promotion I'm hoping I can sign for a bigger club otherwise I have to stick with Jomo. There finances are actually not that good partially because of me and bumping the wages, but I made up for that with selling and departing alot of thrash in my team anyways, It's time for the league table now.

As I've said some problems, but we've made it through looking as we almost won the nedbank cup I'm pretty happy with the league result either way.

Here are the player statistic and if you would look at the goals scored by one of my team members you would imideately know who's my player of the year. He hovewer did not win the player of the season award(not even in top 3 lol). Motha'fking Motha!

Guy could just not stop scoring I'm pretty sure he would win player of the season if he didn't get injured for 4 weeks yes you heard me 4 weeks injury yet he was still such a beast!

Now don't piss on me for using premade tactics, but I had a variation of the 4-3-3 tactic made on my own just for a different system as you can see there Main tactic Maribor. From time to time I also enjoy using the wall of steel altough I miss a WLB to make the most out of that not to mention my poor defence. Hopefully you will like my story as it's my first other than that I will be doing monthly updates and wish me luck on my path to beating the pentagon challenge

The start of season 2

We get a new chairman and checkout the players coming to the club and thos who are leaving it let's start with those who are no longer with Jomo Cosmos.

All of the players that the club has released are no longer needed either because of age or demanding a newer contract with incredible wages. The player coming to the clubs are mostly first team players so let's take a look at them

The First signing was a really important one. He's not one of the younger and extra talented ones, but he fits everything I'm looking for in an AML and I hope for him to be a big game guy for us.

We needed depth on the central midfield position and we got 2 solid players for free so I'm really happy about that. They are better and demanded less wage than my previous CM's (Taaibos) not to mention younger to top it all off!

AML wasn't such a big problem, but AMR was we had only Dlamini so I brought this player in and looking at his attributes I like him more Dlamini we will see if he will perform as good I also have a problem now if I bring another AMR in that I will overflood with them and somebody will not be happy...

Only player in the transfer window I had to pay for. He just fit the description of the striker I was looking for. I needed a backup, but looking at his attributes he may aswell be a first team player at the end of the season all depends on Motha's performances.

And yet another CM to just increase the depth a little bit with some solid stats, the only problem with this guy is that he had a minor injury in the friendlies so I'm hoping for the best now.

One of the best players my scout actually found for me because I'm too lazy. Work appeal only problem now hopefully I get him and he delivers a great season to get me Champions league!

August update

Opening game of a new season has arrived and I commit a stupid mistake arleady. I didn't sign a goalkeeper and one of my backup goalkeepers contract ran out so what's the problem you say you still have your first team one right ? Wrong he got suspended getting a red card in the last game of the season last time out which resulted me putting a 19 year old on the goal and not losing after 1 - 0 down! They scored in the 30th minute, but my player wouldn't give up on their opening game and fought till the end of regular and extra time.

This was just a fantastic result the first game we won in our season and it was for 3 goals aswell. Coming into the game as an underdog and coming out of it victorious on paper everyone thought this was a david and goliath battle, but having a look at their team I was comfortable with playing full on attack and going for the win.

Then comes one of those games where you're at home and you're Goliath, but you just get smashed. My attacker is turning out to be a real flop and when I tell him he's not doing great he just gets mad at me and argues. I tried putting in Motha for a later goal, but he wasn't exactly fit to play to his best potential still he did better then Mtshali. Having look at the statistic we were dominating with 22 shots 7 on target and their 8 shots and 6 on target goes to show that it was nothing else than a fluke win over us not to mention 63% possesion in our favour.

The last game of the month was just unlucky we were dominating destroying them, but hit about 5 crossbars and 5 posts. It looked like whenever we came infront of a goal we wouldn't play as a team, but only look on individuals which wasn't great Motha couldn't score either, but the wings were the ones with huge chances so I don't know really.



This month could have gone much better, but I won't say it was a total disaster since we are at mid table dominating all of those teams in possession and shots the only thing missing is hiting those shots. Simply put we shouldn't have lost at home 0 - 3 and we should have won the game against FS Stars other than that I was pretty happy with the outcomes looking at the circumstances.

Player of the month easily Madoda Motha even tho he only scored in one game he produced a lot of chances to the wingers so they could score. He rattled a lot of crossbars and posts and It's only a matter of time before he goes on a goal rampage again. Here is what he had to say about claiming this award.

Madoda Motha:"At the start of the season I thought our manager was a bit to ambitious with us finishing mid table, but looking at it now I think we can do it. I also want to win the Nedbank cup since it would grant us Champions league right away, but that won't be an easy task. Hopefully I'm not the only one scoring onwards and that my friend Mtshali will be more efficient infront of the goal and get comfortable in our family."

Rest of the season

I decided that monthly updates take up too much of my time and it seems that not a lot of people enjoy my story anyway not to mention someone doing the same exact team in a similar challenge so the best is that I just do what I did throughout the season and maybe someone will enjoy the read.

Best transfer this season he is just amazing hasn't played half the season tho did a lot for the team and the fanse love him so this was a huge signing for me.

A fresh face in the backline was needed in my team. When I found him he looked better than all my CD and he can play a solid LB if needed. He had some homesick issues, but I told him just play. The only problem with him is injuries.

Another Angola gem this one and Ary look so great, but haven't proven themselfs just yet well Ary is playing out of position a bit, but Manuel hasn't really been performing like he's supposed to other than that he is a huge signing for our midfield.

Fixtures

Looking back at this season I thought it was a big succes not to mention the telkom knockout trophy victory. We finished mid table when we were expected to finish 15th. Altough I don't know if I can win the league with Jomo Cosmos it's going to be really hard and I would need to find the right players that will perform so I'll hope to take another club and win the league with them, also absolute epic last game in the season to put us at 7th in the league table after losing 2 - 0 a comeback win 2 - 3!

7th in the League is pretty great for a club who just got promoted altough my goal is to win the champions league and I have to win the league to qualify for the champions league so wish me luck next season this may be a long long story!

Player of the year

Yet again it's the phenomenal beast Madoda Motha. He was a force to be reckond with and he showed that at the age of 31 that he can still dominate even the premiership if he needs to. He was really amazing and the team was dependend on his form if he wouldn't score it would be really hard for us to win. If he scored 1 or 2 it would usually result in a comfortable win. He has been declining recently and may be let go if he will not agree with a lower contract. He deserved every penny both of the seasons, but he's not getting any younger yet he wants more and more money.
